Looking for nice restaurant

Hello all wonderful people of Athens.

Me and my girlfriend is visiting in two weeks and I want to take her somewhere real nice. She is a foodie so somewhere with genuinely nice Greek food and a nice location is what I am looking for. I’d say budget is around 300-400€ if that helps. If any of you have tips of restaurants of that kind, I would be forever thankful!

In desperate need of advice regarding Athens safety

Hi all,

So me and my partner will go to Greece in August with two 16 years old girl, who like to wander around alone. This will be their first time in Greece. We are looking for two possible destinations: Santorini and Athens. I offered Athens because last year I went to Santorini with my friends but 4 days were more than enough, as it is beyond beautiful but still, it does not offer a lot of fun.

For two teens, who love to wander around while we are resting on the beach Athens sounds like more of fun than Santorini. And still, if they get bored in Athens we can go to a boat trip to almost any island to look around. My question is: How safe is Athens for two girls, who tend to love wandering around the city while we are on the beach?

Thanks folks!

Old Greek Coconut Guy

Me and my girlfriend came to Athens yesterday. It was really hot, so we just wanted something cold to drink. We came across an old guy (~50yo) selling coconuts and thought we’d check it out.

My girlfriend started asking what each thing was, and instead of just answering, he started making fun of the way she was asking and got pretty aggressive about it. It was honestly really uncomfortable.

I told her to leave, so we just turned our backs and walked away.

One of the worst interactions I’ve had while travelling. Not sure if we just got unlucky or if this is something others have experienced?

Where can I watch Eurovision?

I'm coming to Athens for the weekend on Eurovision weekend. Does anyone have some advice on a good place to watch it? Preferably a (gay?) bar or pub which will show it rather than a nightclub as we would like somewhere we can sit down. We are having dinner in the Exarcheia district so somewhere near there would be ideal.

Thanks!

Just wanted to share the Acropolis at sunset ….my favorite pic so far!

One of the neatest pictures I have taken so far. While I have tons this is my favorite. Took a night bus tour through Athens last night. The tour itself was lacking and was basically just driving with not a lot of slowing down or a way to really enjoy the views. But it did make this shot possible!

Tap2Ride on buses

Am I right in thinking that I can hop on a bus in Athens and pay directly at the ticket-validation machine with my Visa card—I don't need to go to a kiosk, get a ticket, and use that?

Thanks!

First time in Athens (Artemida area) any MUST-VISIT spots or bars?

I’ll be coming to Athens for the first time for an expo at the Metropolitan Expo Centre near the airport. I’'m staying in the Artemida area and won’t have much time to travel far.

I really don’t want to miss out on something special while I’m there though, even if it’s just something nearby. Are there any MUST-VISIT spots, hidden gems, or quick experiences you’d recommend in or around Artemida?

Also, if you have any good bar suggestions in the area, that would be great!

Excited to see your beautiful city!

Podium at panestiomio

Hi all,

I saw today some workers building up a huge podium close to panestiomio station. Does anyone know what's going on tonight?

Athens stores for baptism and wedding shopping?

While in Athens, I would like to get a real gold cross for my godson’s baptism, as well as a stefana and stefanothiki for my koumbaroi. I have limited time in Athens so would love any recommendations on the best stores/streets to look into. Ευχαριστώ!

Nikos Vertis on saturdays?

Does anyone know if Nikos Vertis still does shows on weekends? I believe he did in the past but I can't seem to find any relevant/recent information about it.

If he does not anymore, which greek artists do?

Thnx!
