Phoebe Moyer - narrating - audiobooks

Hi guys, anybody wanting to also rant about Phoebe Moyer and her pronunciation of words.... ?

Join me.

Feel free to compare it to Karen Savage.

(I am NOT complaining - I understand Windy Poplars and Anne of Ingleside are only now coming out of copyright - I understand.

I WILL get through Windy Poplars and Karen will be there to welcome me on the other side in the House of Dreams)

I just cringe every time and need y'all to share your feels about it too, please😄

Anne of the island appreciation post

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the book!!!

Whenever we get a glance of Gilbert's perspective I'm just smiling like a pervert lol. And also can we please talk about what a perfect side character Roy Gardner is?? It pisses me off that LMM couldn't get his last name right later on but he was the perfect university fling, I love how convincing LMM made both Anne's infatuation and rejection of Roy. Being her ideal from head to toe and the lack of humour being her ick point was so goodddd! And also what a name!

I think I adore pretty much all the characters in this book, the patty's place girls and aunt Jamesina were amazing. And Rustyyyyyyyyy!! It was definitely a shame how the relationships Anne build during Redmond isn't mentioned enough in the books later.

Last but not the least the Sam guy that proposed to Anne was hilarious...and I was actually so pissed at Janet's story. That man should've cut ties with his mum 20 years ago!

And do let me know if anyone has a clue about what Gilbert was thinking when he and Anne were walking back together from Diana's wedding! They were talking about people growing up and change, and there's a scene where Gilbert quotes a poem looking absent. I don't think there's any description of him being absent around Anne except for that Christine chapter in Ingleside, so I've always wondered what LMM was trying to imply here.

I was bored so I decided to visit LLM Park.

I saw her house but I was too shy to take a picture. Here's the plaque at the park.

Show me your Anne/LMM collections!

I've found nearly all of these in thrift stores!

Are you like me and have a mismatched collection and multiple editions, or do you just have one edition? Which cover is your favourite?

How can I express this beauty in words ?

If you ask Anne, she would say .....

"Pretty? Oh, pretty doesn’t seem the right word to use. Nor beautiful, either. They don’t go far enough." 💓

“The puffs have been getting bigger and more ridiculous right along; they're as big as balloons now. Next year anybody who wears them will have to go through a door sideways."

Where can I watch the 2016 film?

I am a huge fan of Anne and currently trying to watch all the films/series made. I have read all the books, however it is quite a high level of English which makes me enjoy the later books less (only the first two are translated to my first language).
I have watched the films from 1985 (I love the second, Anne is SOO PRETTY there!!) and Anne with an E. I would like to watch the film from 2016 and its sequel (even though the casting of Gilbert makes me want to scream) but can not find it anywhere online.
I live in Europe but have a VPN so that might work.
Also, if you have any tips about other films or series about Anne, I’d be happy to know!

I acquired a set of the books on Kindle a little while back and was pretty surprised to see a piece of gossip in the Rilla of Ingleside chapter "Little Dog Monday Knows" about a Glen boy who was a POW and wrote a letter home with a bit of Gaelic in it. It's not there in my Bantam paperback copy, and I would definitely have remembered it if it had been because I'm always interested in any scrap of Scottish culture that made its way into the Anne and Emily books.

I don't know if there are historically known edits or anything and was wondering if anyone knows anything about this piece behind added or cut. To my knowledge, the Kindle version does not have any other noticeable changes.

Polls only allow six options so I am leaving out Anne of Green Gables, Anne of the Island and Rilla of Ingleside since we already know those are the most popular books anyway. Which is your favorite of the remaining books?

Anyone else feel obligated to do a re-read in the spring? Not every single spring, but a particularly Anne-ish spring makes me have to revisit her world.

I was at a small local shop yesterday and look what I found! I had already checked out but saw this and had to buy it. It’s a wooden bookmark.

Greetings!! So, I LOVE Anne of Green Gables, but I just recently learned it was an eight (or was it seven?) book series, and I've only read the first four. This is the collection I have, and I was wondering if the other books can also come in these covers?
If not, could somebody please direct me to the collection with the original covers? Thank you so much!! I really want to read them :>

Which child do you like best in Anne of Avonlea? I'm asking for opinions about them in Anne of Avonlea only, not their development in later books. I just picked four because they seemed like the only important ones to the plot.

My son is in a 5th grade class for “high achieving” students. His teachers are amazing! I remember starting to read Anne of Green Gables when I was in 5th grade. His whole class is going to read it!

I was surprised because, having recently tried to re-read LLM, her writing style seems SO old-fashioned and outdated and even convoluted for today’s young readers, even many advanced readers.

He said they’re going to read the graphic novel! I was really surprised but I’m mostly excited because I think this will bring a lot of the joy of the story to today’s students. It will help make the story approachable

I’m pretty excited but let me know your thoughts!
