Suggestions for an anime movie night with adults

I ended up getting invited to a monthly anime movie night by some fellow adults. It seems like they’re all pretty new to anime. The format is whoever hosts gets to pick the movie.

They have mostly seen Studio Ghibli and Your name at this point.

The movies we’ve watched so far are

  1. Ghost in the Shell

  2. Boy and the Heron

  3. A Silent Voice (my pick)

  4. Summer Wars

They were blown away by A Silent Voice. Hard to follow that up. Any suggestions?

I was thinking of Tokyo Godfathers, Wolf Children, or one of the other Makoto Shinkai films.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Any good racing anime?

Just finished up MF Ghost and was looking for some more racing anime. I prefer something more realistic, not like spaceship racing haha.

I'm open to circuit racing or street racing, but I want the focus to be on the racing, not just as a side element.

Thanks!

Anime like Blue Box or The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity?

Romance/friendship/slice-of-life anime with male mc; it doesn't matter if they are set in high school, college, or adult life (though not too far into adulthood). I don't like harems and I would like the anime to be realistic, like the ones I have mentioned. Preferably with an Italian dub. Thanks in advance

bluebox was so good in my opinion, fragrant flower Is kinda ok, characters are a little lame, especially the girl and the plot Is nothing special. I would like the girl interest to be a real person, not this cliché Always Happy, innocent and childish person

I have also loved Beck

Realistic Romance Animes?

All the romance animes I've watched so far are really unrealistic, like the popular girl falling for the introverted nerd guy, or the guy having a harem.

I´m looking for a realistic romance anime, where the relationship feel genuine, things are built slowly, real amotions, hardships, etc.

Do you know any romance animes like this?

Need a dark / depressing anime to get over my ex cheating on me with another boyfriend for three months after a two year relationship together..

Told me that she never loved me and was only using me for attention... I need a really dark / messed up anime to get over this / distract myself.

Or any anime that you feel would help me get over it like cheaters getting karma etc.

Or any other suggestions.. just anything..

Romance where the main couple are weirdos

Looking for a dark comedy

Flowers of evil is a good example lol. More lighthearted would be pseudo harem and kinda insomniacs after school. Haganai and mysterious girlfriend x. Something maybe where they get together early

Looking for lesser known

Anime main character who is as self-absorbed as Light Yagami from Death Note?

I am looking for anime where protagonist is pretty much living in the mental world of his own.

The only other one which comes to mind is Shadow form Eminence in Shadows.

But Lord please, don't let it be another isekai, I fucking hate isekai.

Looking for anime or manga about WW2 that goes beyond the Japanese civilian experience. Does anything like that exist?

Looking for anime or manga that portrays Japan's role in WW2 as something other than purely a victim. Most of what the medium produces focuses on civilian suffering, the atomic bombs, the home front. All of it devastating and worth engaging with, but it tells one very specific part of the story.

The one creator I've found who genuinely goes elsewhere is Shigeru Mizuki. His autobiographical work on his time as a soldier is about as far from romanticized as you can get. Boot camp, the political atmosphere, how that entire system operated. He doesn't flinch. Whether his work ever directly confronts what Japanese forces did in China or Korea I'm honestly not sure, his own experience was more conventional battlefield than occupation, but even what he does depict is rare enough to stand out.

Is the absence of that perspective in mainstream manga and anime a reflection of what Japanese audiences will engage with, what creators are willing to make, or what the education system has made it possible to even think about critically?

Anyone found anything that actually goes there?

Suggestions on what should I watch next on the following anime?

Looking for something similar in vibe to

  • Sword Art Online
  • Reincarnated as a Slime
  • Eminence in Shadow
  • Solo Levelling (I know this isn't an anime, shhh)

I have Rising of the Shield Hero on my watch list still. I recently heard about RE:Zero, planning to give that a try. Anyone got some good suggestions?

Anime I saw about 20 years ago on TV. I need help figuring out what it was.

I saw this on tv on what I believe was Animax about 20 years ago. I remember a boy and a girl on a bike/motorcycle, the girl was sitting behind and was crying about being A MACHINE or something. I think she was turning into something?? It was it the middle of the day too

Im sorry, it's such a vague memory I have and I just remember it from time to time and always wondered what anime it was.

Does anyone else just feel absolutely gut wrechingly empty inside after finishing an anime they really liked?

Is there any solution to this? I try looking for other content related to it, for me it was Chained soldier (dont judge) but after finishing it, I keep looking for other things similiar, to try and fill that hole, but nothing does.

I feel attached to it and crave for more, but there isnt any. And only a endless cycle of desperation continues over and over. What do people do about this? Perhaps re-read/watch what they just did to somewhat satiate that hunger?

Any anime with super epic and jaw dropping bad ass fight scenes

ive really enjoyed jojo, frieren beyond Journey's end and projecg K had extremely smooth and well animated fight scenes as well.

especially one piece and dragon ball.

(two anime ill be watching first are jjk and solo levelling)

my hero academia had some cool fights as well.

would love military anime, gundam iron blooded orphans was my favourite for the gundam anime, not anime but some of the seasons of red vs blue had some exceptional fight scenes especially rwby (by rooster teeth)

Make sure to look at my anime list so you dont recommend something ive already watched

Need anime like Higehiro

Hi r/Animesuggest

Recently I watched this Anime named:

Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway

I really really loved this from the start to end. Due to some things that happended in my life, I felt very attached to this.

Now after finishing it, I am in post anime depression, need an anime like this so bad.

For guys who don't know this anime, the name is weird, but the anime is very meaningful. if you ask me, it's a masterpiece.

Thanks in advance:)
