Capyhero

Hi! I thought folks might like what we’re creating with Capyhero! My name is Tyler and I’m the author. It’s an illustrated fantasy featuring over 100 traditionally drawn fountain ink illustrations by u/nickthagreek.

It’s about a brave capybara who awakens in a strange land with only a blue blanket and the fading memory of a boy named Reed.

It’s written for fantasy readers, middle grade and up. I’d say my biggest inspirations are Princess Mononoke and other Studio Ghibli stories, Redwall, and other classics from the 90s.

I’m still writing it, but just wanted to share some of the beautiful page spreads that have me really excited!!

Theres gonna be a new xenofiction book involving squirrels (seems is going to be a trilogy). That would come out in November 10th.

Summary:

Rum is the runt of his litter and an outcast in the Sky Clan, but he sees and understands things the other squirrels don’t—for Rum is a sentinel. Born to each squirrel clan when a catastrophe is looming, sentinels are powerful seers that must go to the Dark Forest to meet a mysterious squirrel that can decipher their message. When Rum befriends the Lowland Clan’s runaway sentinel, Nearly, the two band together to reach the Dark Forest to meet the ancient squirrel, Arundale.

But the message Arundale deciphers is dire: A fire is coming to the mountains that will destroy everything in its path. Only the sentinels can save the forest creatures. But one of their kind, the final sentinel, is missing. So Rum, Nearly, and a legion of animal protectors set off on an epic journey to find the missing sentinel, and learn her secret message before it’s too late.

Fast-paced and packed with drama and dangerous battles, Sentinels is perfect for reluctant readers and fantasy lovers alike, and filled with captivating illustrations that bring the squirrel world to life.

Has Anyone read the Foxcraft Series?

I see a lot of mixed reviews about this book. People said there's not a lot of magic and nothing much happened in the book. It sounded like there's not much world building. I know she's looking for her brother, but beside that, what else is happening in the story?

‘Sup Book Lovers!

My friend has cooked up something called the Furry Media Depository.

It's a spreadsheet that contains links to literally everything furry-related, including comics, music, movies, and anything else you can think of. In this case I would direct you to the Books section (for which we are always accepting recommendations).

Feel free to use it to discover more animal/anthropomorphic media to enjoy!

Additionally, if you would want to help with it in any way (either to add stuff to it, or to help with refining it), you can contact me in my DM, or my friend (the creator) in Discord. His name there is "hiddenmoonstone"

Keep rocking!

Whenever I go to used bookstores I always keep an eye out for books on my list...

This one I've been wanting to read for ages, but never stumbled across a copy until now, and it just so happens to be an advanced edition! A really cool find tbh, I'm very pleased to add it to my collection 😸

I still want to get a normal edition eventually (as cool as advanced copies are, their white boxes with text aren't the prettiest to look at lol) and I'm looking forward to FINALLY reading one of the most iconic animal books of all time

The reviews for this Sheep Detectives movie adaptation y'all are forcing me to watch this weekend are unbelievable

So when y'all started mentioning this movie adaptation coming, I was kind of interested in going to see it, but I felt that it was probably going to be one of those movies with mixed reviews like If. Turns out, it's starting to look like it's going to be more along the lines of Paddington. Now I'm definitely curious to see it when it comes out now.

Off tangent, but I also saw the film tie-in version of the book on display in a bookstore in Germany a couple weeks back, I was tempted to get it, but I kind of ran out of time on my trip.

Anyway, is it weird I'm going to see two Sheep films in theaters this year? This and Shaun the Sheep 3.
