Amex Travel FHR
Hi! Does anyone know if I can book a THC hotel under my name but pay using an authorized user free companion card? Will I be able to check in with my Amex Plat card in my name? Thanks!

No equinox locations where we are - close to Ohio - what are the options for using this credit?
The renewal date for my business platinum card is 4/28, and I am considering canceling the card as I find myself utilizing the perks on my personal card more frequently. I am also looking to book a hotel for May. Will I still be eligible for the $300 credit if I cancel the card next week?
I have had my personal Plat since ‘19 and put on $100k+/yr. No idea why, but was charged $695 instead of the new rate.
Called retention was offered nothing. This is actually the first time I was denied a bonus, which is why I’m considering the downgrade -> upgrade method.
I’d be charged the new $895 AF, but can take advantage of earning 26pts to the dollar with the upgrade offer, making it well worth the $200 difference.
Does anyone know of a better more lucrative method?
So I have a CSR and Amex Platinum. My home airport doesn't have either lounge but I fly a lot of places that have both sapphire lounges and Centurion lounges. As a result I have never actually gone to a centurion lounge because I have either gone to the sapphire lounge or was flying business class and went to that lounge. Yesterday I was in Dallas and went to the Centurion lounge for the first time and holy cow was it disappointing. They were serving this jambalaya that had hardly any meat or shrimp in it that honestly was not very good, a really gross minestrone soup that was more like a chicken noodle soup that had really weird seasonings, and some slimy looking chicken thighs I was afraid to eat because chicken gives me the yuck really easily. So my question is whether DFW is just known to be a bad lounge and the others are nicer or is this it? This lounge was on the level with a regular priority pass in my opinion.
So Apparently Saks fifth avenue in Costa Mesa, CA plaza is closing so everything in their inventory was 50% off , on top of the discounts they had offered to clear the inventory earlier. A vince shirt was at 140$ on their website, at the saks store with costa mesa it was at 95$ but with 50% off the total came to be 47.5$ and rest tax so I basically got a 140$ vince shirt for free using the saks credit.
Sharing if anyone lives close to costa mesa, I believe their store closes in first week of May
Hi all. I'm looking to try F1 this year in Vegas. The only thing I know about F1 is what's in the movie that released recently. I'm also new to Amex. I know the early tickets are coming and I know about the benefits with Amex, but I am wondering if these benefits are available the entire time or just specific days? I'm guessing we need a ticket of some sort to use the benefits, but my understanding is that tickets are location-specific. Do we need specific tickets to use the benefits? Is the demand such that it is unlikely for me to get any good use out of this? Is the practice day good enough? Got any other, random advice? Thanks!
I know Spain and a few other European airports have free fast track access as a perk for Platinum card holders but I’ve never been able to sign up for it with a US based Platinum card. The web link always returns an error after logging in
Is there another way of signing up for it or accessing it?
I had an incredibly negative experience at JW Marriott Anaheim Resort during the past week. One of the primary reasons for us booking this property through AMEX was for the benefits, but they did not provide any of The Hotel Collection benefits at all (no noon check-in, no late check-out, and no room upgrade) and on top of that we were unable to fully utilize the dining credit due to unannounced restaurant closures.
The hotel did not disclose that 2/3 of the on-site restaurants were closed during my stay. I had made reservations for the Tocca Ferro restaurant and Parkestry rooftop bar over a month in advance. I even received a text message confirmation for the reservation the night before it was scheduled. Both restaurants were closed for the entire duration of my stay with no ETA when they will reopen. The staff did not disclose this to me when I checked in, nor did they disclose this when I inquired about how to utilize the AMEX dining credits. I only became aware of this when arriving at the restaurant on the day of my reservation. Because of this, my wife and I were only able to partially utilize the dining credit at the pool bar (which had a very limited menu due to the primary kitchen being closed). The hotel website and reservation system still do not disclose that the restaurants are closed - online it shows they are open with full hours and a published menu that is not actually available to order from.
This experience overall makes me question whether the AMEX Platinum program is worth having at all unfortunately. My impression is that the property is deliberately trying to mislead customers by not disclosing their amenities are unavailable until they physically arrive for their reservation. I strongly suggest avoiding this property.
Has anyone else had an experience like this with THC/FHR properties?
So basically your hotel credit and $100 cancels out the massive markup.... What a Con...
Can't put a picture in but basically for the Claremont Resort and Club for 2 nights in June
Priceline $595 + I get 10xRokuten points
Amex Travel $983....
Has anyone tried to pay with amex’s virtual card and get offers to trigger? Seems like Google Pay doesn’t work because it’s viewed as 3rd party like PayPal. Wondering if it’s the same with virtual cards.
i booked a ticket on delta and as part of that i made seat selection. i saw today that amex credited the charge as part of the airline credit. i thought it did that only if the seat selection was done outside of the main ticket purchase. at any rate, it was a nice surprise.
My wife a Amex supplementary card holder was denied entry. Reason given - she was a supplementary card holder.
I have filed a complaint with Amex as the terms in our local card terms and conditions say supplementary card holders have unlimited entry.
Just not sure how she was meant to deal with this at the time.
Anyone been in this situation? How do you recommend dealing with denied entry (against terms and conditions) at the airport?
Thanks
For what its worth just wanted to put it out there that I upgraded my cabin from Economy to Premium Plus (cabin upgrade) in the app on check in for my international flight to Turkey, and it triggered the $200 credit. Did not intend for it and was going to use it later this year for food/United club but glad I got it. Just adding a data point for future searchs!
The last 3 times I have tried to access the lounge (1x March, (2x April including just now) I have been waiting listed or turned away due to my connection times for int’l flights.
I’m not paying the fees any longer since I get Admiral’s and Flagship access. I don’t really use to many other perks since I have to pay with my gov’t card for everything else.
I know they don’t care. It’s just not the same benefit it used to be.
Hi have been using Amex Plat for a year and it seemed to be a great deal with the sign up bonus and the lower annual fee but now Im thinking if its really that much of a value. With the $895 fee, I find that I have to find things to spend to be able to get that money back. The airport lounge access seems to be a joke. I do use the Disney plus credit, occasional uber and used to use the Hotel credit but now the rates are also horrible. I was hoping to save the points and use towards my international travel on Emirates but now they have devalued the MR points. I have all these MR points but nothing appealing than cashing out (which is also lower than what other cash back cards give you). I dont like that the MR is 1 for every $ even for dining and travel. Are there any US airlines (other than Delta) that can take MR and book flights. I feel like I might be better served with my united and Costco Citi card which has a better cash back value
I understand there is a 1M point cap per year.. but can I open up both accounts and cash out 1M points at each place (Schwab and Biz Checking) ? Or is the 1M cap total across all venues?
Thanks in advance.
