Amazon refusing to let us call 911?

Since that worker died in Oregon last month, I've been hearing a lot of stories about Amazon not letting us call 911, even when there's a medical emergency. I mean, I’ve been hearing that amazon handles emergencies in general pretty poorly, I also see it at my own site.

I was wondering what others experiences are with this, how does your site handle emergencies? Do you think they would let you call 911? Have they let you call 911 in the past?

How leadership & PA’s look at you when you need something but you’re not an attractive female

Scenario: you're the first person to write your name on the VTO whiteboard at start of shift; 5 minutes later another Associate walks inside the building and erases your name discreetly and puts their name down as first place; what's your next move/reaction?

Are yall still required to wear vests at yall site?

So at my ds, for the past 2 years the t1s have not been required to wear hi vis vests. But there's still some ppl who still wear the regular yellow vest despite it no longer being a requirement for over 2 years now. I be wondering why some ppl are still wearing a vest. And I also wonder why vests were required in the first place at a ds where there's no forklifts

Anyone else struggle to sleep the day before work?

I work Tuesday through Friday and I can sleep once I’ve started my work week, but come Monday evening it’s so hard for me to actually relax and sleep solid. I always wake up at some point and it’s hard to go back to sleep. How do you get good rest the night before going back to work?

Safety helmets ?

We’ve had these helmets for awhile now for the AAs on the dock and they were only for water spiders and unloaders, but starting last month everyone on the dock has to wear a helmet no matter what role there in so I find it funny seeing a inductor with a helmets like what’s going to hit ur head a sticker 😭, anyone else site doing this nonsense ?

PA Perspective

Hi,

Just wanted to give my personal insights to any readers here about decision making by PAs or Managers.

AMA as a PA I guess.

  1. There are 5-10 people that everyone complains about. From fellow Associates up to L4/5/6, HR, Safety, you name it. One guy, unless he is assigned to induct, will spend at least one hour out of path every day complaining to everyone and anyone about favortism. One guy thinks managers have no authority and requests paper copies of all decisions. Another has a new injury every other week and asks for accomodations while the doctor completes the paperwork that never comes through. One person says Amazon is harassing them with VET/VTO notifications but refuses to turn them off in case they actually decide to take it.

  2. I don't want you to work harder, I want you to work more efficiently. Stop organizing jiffies on top of your stow cart, especially A/B packages. Meanwhile you're putting OVs on the floor. Or trying to stow down each aisle completely before moving on.

  3. You have 40+ jiffies in your hamper, but less than 10 boxes. Stop stowing the boxes as they come in one by one. Just grab an arm full of jiffies and your hampers will stop beeping.

  4. I make $1-2 dollars more than you. I have very little decision making powers. I just react to what I'm given. Talk to an L6 or post on the VOA Board instead.

  5. Yes, I organize the staffing to try to make the shift run well. I need to separate all the problems from each other.

  6. PAs and AMs are always talking about who is working well and who isn't. There is an 'unofficial' blacklist for certain roles. If I can't trust you, you are going to be in path every day.

  7. I don't care if someone uses PTO/UPT, but some notice is always nice. I actually love it when multiple people leave early, it makes bridging easier.

  8. Being a Learning Ambassador has little influence in becoming a PA. Yes, it helps with coming up with STAR stories, but more importantly you need an L6+ backing you, with examples of you taking initiative in some areas.

  9. Amazon is too big to fail, but they still fail at hiring. It's some peoples first job and they don't realize the amount of time off opportunities they receive.

  10. Just keep your head down, don't work or complain too much and this'll be the easiest and well-paying job you can get.

Will i for certain be working Sunday-Thursday from 3:20 am - 11:50 am ? How does the schedule work ? Can I get more than 40 hours / week ?

I don’t know what vet is or anything. I am new to Amazon and I applied for this schedule , then got an email saying something about “Mandatory overtime” and we will talk my first day. . Don’t know how much is overtime . Or anything about this schedule or when met starts or anything . Don’t even know what vet or met is tbh.

Conflicting instructions

Today is was working the diverter right before the adta line.one am told us to push the large boxes off the line so they don't jam up the adta line. Then about a hour later another am came up and said just let them go through. Then the first one came up and asked why we were not pushing them off.what the hell is a person supposed to do? Neither one is my actual am. He was off today.
