TIL that Patrick Kilonzo Mwalua, a pea farmer in Kenya, spent his own money renting a truck to drive 50+ km multiple times a week to fill dry watering holes for wild animals during drought. He once arrived to find 500 buffalo waiting. A GoFundMe raised nearly $500,000 for his work.

It started in November 2016 when Mwalua saw a buffalo sniffing at an empty water hole and decided he had to act. He fills a tanker with 3,000 gallons of fresh water and drives hours into the savannah to fill bone-dry watering holes for elephants, buffalo, antelope, and zebras.

From the orchard: The harvester sweeps through and picks up everything from the ground, then blows out all the leaves and debris so only the clean nuts are collected and brought in for processing.
