I'm finding 30.3 the most unstable release of illustrator ever

Curious to know if anyone else is having issues or fixes? It crashes multiple times a day for me. One of the worst things, is sometimes it wont even launch (just freezes on a grey window) or takes ages to load (several minutes). I'm on windows 11, and I tried reinstalling windows runtime files to try and fix that. Maybe helped a little. It's all random as to whether I can get it to work.

Help with making print ready & bleed section

So my brother has asked me to help turn his logos into something print ready and said that they need a bleed section. This is all the information I've been given and I've never though about/been taught how to do this.

https://preview.redd.it/bm7ly001shwg1.png?width=1085&format=png&auto=webp&s=cc45dd1bb8144588e24d862335c25d17d8e82ec0

I took a look at a video that taught cutlines so that's my magenta (not sure if i even need that) But should my bleed lines be a black stroke that falls outside of the border? should my cutline be closer? have no idea what I'm doing here!

I recently refreshed my personal branding as a Motion Designer and made this little breakdown

Hi!

So, when I was working on my new demo reel I felt like my personal branding needed an update to feel a bit more 'me', so did this little refresh to my visual identifty as a Motion Designer + 3d Artist.

Happy to discuss any details, I'll probably add some behind-the-scenes for the intro/outro on my reel and some more motion-related-stuff on my Behance project, so stay tuned.

Have a great week, everyone!

I use Adobe for work and I hate seeing AI everywhere. How do you disable this Firefly prompt on the homepage where it shows your recent work?

Basically what the title says. I'm on Windows 11 and my Adobe Illustrator is on v30.3.

Is there a way to have a fixed width for the panels window in Illustrator 2026?

It bothers me a great deal that I cannot keep the width of my panel window the way I have set it myself manually to fit my needs (I need tabs with legible names, since the vertical column of icons on the right means absolutely nothing to me).

I click on one panel whose width isn't variable, and all the tabs I constantly use for my work overlap and become illegible. I just want the panels window to stay the way I set it.

I've been using Blender for over 10 years, and in Blender every single panel can be resized in width and height to let the user create their ideal workspace, and how you set your workspace gets saved in the document and reopens exactly the way you left it.

Is there a workaround for that? Like a script or an addon?

Hidden layers appeared after PDF file is printed out

I saved my project as a pdf with the hidden layers. The pdf does not show any of the hidden layers, however, when I print the pdf, all of my hidden layers were visible.

I am very amateur with Illustrator as I have just learned this in school. I have tried a few ways but they are beyond my understanding. Asking LLM’s didn’t work either, so this is my final resort. Can someone help

me with this?

Saving in Illustrator 2026 is killing my workflow lately

Hi! I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing this in Illustrator 2026.

Since updating, I’ve noticed that saving files can take over 5 minutes, even with relatively simple documents (few artboards and elements). It’s consistent enough that it’s starting to affect my workflow quite a bit.

For context, I’m working on a MacBook Pro (M1 Max, 64GB RAM), so I wouldn’t expect performance to be an issue.

I’ve temporarily gone back to Illustrator 2025 to keep working faster, but that version has been unstable for me and crashes randomly, so it’s not really a solution.

Not looking for official support—just trying to understand if this is something others are seeing too, or if it might be related to a specific setting, file type, or recent update.

Has anyone else run into this?

The Seventh Journey (Fanart by me)

This was my first RPG, my parents got for me for Christmas, along with my first strategy guide. My favourite memories are of my big sister reading out instructions from the game guide as I tried to follow instructions.  (As close to 2 player as most old school RPGs get.)

Built in Abobe illustrator/vector. These isometric journey art pieces take weeks of work to paint, it’s almost like working on a small book. Dozens of characters, locations, and lots of moments hidden within. So it better be of something that means a lot to you- Final Fantasy 7 falls deep into that category for me.

Thanks for lookin!

How do you purposely add a banding effect to gradient?

A long long time ago, I had issues where I had banding. I can't remember how I fixed it, but now gradients are smooth and I need to intentionally add a banding effect to a gradient. Since I don't remember how I went from banding to smooth, I can't figure out how I might go from smooth to banding. ALL searching inquires on Google, Reddit posts, and Illustrator on Adobe community all just direct how to fix banding issue when trying to use gradient, none showing how to intentionally add a banding effect.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Show Artboard name on canvas Missing!

So I'm trying to display artboard names on my Illustrator 2024. I'm using Macos. I did a google and everyone has the same solution: Settings > Selection & Anchor Display > Show Artboard name on canvas but, it's missing from my Illustrator! The first screenshot is the one found on the internet that solved everyone's problems. The second screenshot is mines. Am I doing something wrong? What am I missing?

How would you go about creating something like this?

Not the package or typography, just the vector illustrations on the front. I've stuck to very minimalistic designs for a long time and have no idea what the most efficient approach is to something more complex. Still a student, and I'm always anxious about spending way more time than necessary on something. What's the step-by-step process (very broadly speaking) of digital illustrations like these with depth? Thanks!

How can I create a circular progress ring in Adobe Illustrator where I can precisely control the visible portion of the stroke (e.g., 70%, 80%) without cutting path?

I’m trying to recreate a progress-style circle where only part of the stroke is visible, so that I can adjust the percentage easily.

Wrap Morse code around a shape's perimeter?

I have a shape (a rectangle with rounded corners) that I'd like to wrap in shorter lines representing a phrase in Morse code.

I've made a the phrase in Morse code with a series of horizontal lines (dots of one length, dashes of 3x that length). How can I wrap these lines around my rectangle?

Thanks so much for any advice!

My Swatches keep changing to displaying as all white when they are not

Midway through working sometimes I'll open swatches to grab a colour and they have all shown as white - despite that fact clicking them applies the appropriate colour. Any idea what's going on? I have to restart AI to reset them.
