Can we talk about THAT in hydroplant.....?
I'll start by saying I've got 3 saves of this going. 60 in the main, 45 with buddy A, 30ish with buddy B.
Hydroplant, reactor growths...in the water >!darkwaterbeast!< why must he be there?! I've been underwater for roughly a few hours irl total. never had an issue, heard some sonar every once in a while...but thought nothing of it. i was SURE something was there since minute 1 (i blame subnautica ptsd) but it was fine.
Fast forward to last night where me and buddy A finally got the diving suit and off i go to get reactor growths for the deatomizer. I told my buddy all about the potential in the water, told him about the emails from the dr we got about it and the recording.
I jumped in...got 3 growths and the flippin thing came out of the ground at me!!!
i pushed myself straight into a corner in game, screamed irl, the wife (on the couch) lol'd, and my buddy vowed to "never to step in the water" as i ported back to base.
whyyyyyyyyyyy. (great game but wooooooooo)
The new update added one of the best features ever

So what exactly is our character?
Three different times in the story our character gets called out for not being what they seem.
The first time is when meeting the Sister of the Unlost on your way to security where she says: “you are of our kith, but not our kin”
The second time is when you talk to Dr. Cahn after beating the behemoth and he says: -if I didn’t know any better I’d say you should be the one being studied
And the third time it happens is when you travel back in time and straight up get called “anomaly” by the jotun you meet
On top of all of that our character is smart. Like “anime Mary-Sue” levels of smart. Being capable of inventing entirely new technologies as well as reverse-engineering complicated technologies and chemical compounds just by taking a gander at materials we’ve just come across like five minutes ago. And as we traverse the facility we leave an ocean of blood dotted with islands comprised of the corpses of some of the most formidable beings within known reality in our wake.
I think our character themself is an IS like the one masquerading as Dr. Cahn
Coming from Voices of the Void and almost no knowledge of what ABF is like as a game. I wanted to ask what the games deal/gameplay is like?
Like the title said, I’m coming from the Voices of the Void community and with little to no knowledge of the game and just wanted to know a little more (preferably As spoiler free as possible) before I think of picking up the game.
From what I do know, people rave about how great the game is and in certain regards looks like it should be up my alley but still wanted to ask the folks on here to get some more perspectives.
I am begging the devs to remove the tilt feature on wall furniture and placables or at the very least add a toggle to disable it because GOOD GOD THIS IS PAINFUL TO WORK WITH
i dont even know who would actually use a tilt feature like this and why because nothing in this game looks decent when tilted or like it belongs
my one criticism about the crossover:
you cant interact with the plushie to make it make a squeeky noise and that makes me very sad.
is that a thing in VOTV? no clue. but my soul yearns for the squeeky.
Bit of a small idea here, but it would be cool to be able to make a canteen with a built in water purifier.
Id imagine it would take some time to actually purify the water in it for balance reasons. Maybe having diminishing returns and two bars, one for purified, one for dirty water, a full bar of dirty water would only get you like 25% of clean water
Idk, just a nice thing to have instead of going back and fourth to your base to get clean water or scavenging every sink and water cooler you can find.
Id imagine it would take similar materials to the water filter but with a canteen as a base. But it would be like mid to late game to get it.
I wonder what the exor that your pet peccary eventually grows into would think of your scientist
I know we can’t see it happen in game but we know that Peccary are juvenile Exor so I wonder would you have an exor bro or would the exor think “here’s the fucker that treated me like a pet”

As always - no mods.
Crossplay might break for a lil bit.
Are there any practical throwables? When and where do I get them?
As my flair suggests, I'm playing as a Paratheoretical Physicist. Which means I get bonuses to thrown weapons! However, Throwing is by far my LOWEST skill at this point, because I just can't seem to find any practical throwing-weapons to use - not since Throwing Darts stopped being relevant - and I'm at the Hydroplant now! All the options currently on my table eat up resources that are way too much of a pain to farm, basically.
Thermite Molotovs? Eats through Anteverse Gel, meaning more time spent raiding the Fungal Zone, especially since it's needed for a BUNCH of other things too - including the Boiling Distillations, nowadays. Electron Grenades? Eats through Capacitors, which - while hardly rare - are bothersome to acquire in that sort of quantity, since the primary source for them is hunting Electro-Pests. Throwing Quills? Uses Magnetic Alloy for some unholy reason, HARD PASS! Grenades? Only obtained through drops, so way too rare for general use. Throwing Crystal? Easy to make, but too weak to be worth using even when they first became an option.
Honestly, it seems like Mugnades are still the most practical option, somehow, and those are a pain too since the only real way to get the requisite mugs is to just stand at a coffee-machine and feed a ton of ones to it. Would be nicer if you could pick up coffee-machines and move 'em to your base, but as it is, it's kind of a hassle! Meanwhile, the single most renewable throwable resources - Kerespheres - is COMPLETELY useless, if not actively an obstacle. =_=
Chemistry seems to offer a batch of new throwables, and I haven't experimented extensively with those yet, but none of them seem promising? I tried making some Concussive Flasks, but as it turns out, they do zero damage and basically just bounce enemies around a bit.
Ya know, I thought I was being quite sneaky and able to get a drop on the sniper here, turns out? They can snapshot me without a care lmao
Bruh...why is everything so hard?
I understand that the game has peaks in difficulty until you get to the next tier of weapons/armor. I've Googled everything to find a better method or loadout for fighting the Jotuns, Neophytes, Mystago guys. etc. I've upgraded everything I have, use 2 laser grenades, Deatomizer, it's like everything is a bullet sponge with super high HP and defense. Is this somerhing that needs to be patched, as far as lowering their HP, or do I just suck? lol
