State of collection what next?

Love these two platinum beauties. Thinking I should get something with some color—either say rose gold or maybe a colored dial? Lange Chronograph? Don’t want anything bigger than the Dato for my 7” wrist. Could go to Patek—5205r with either blue or green dial, 5396 with blue dial, 5170? I went by Vacheron and tried on some things like an Overseas with blue dial and a 222 in gold and liked but did not love what I saw (thought the 222 more elegant than the overseas but only can get the gold). I know it is probably a silly question but I feel like I have set the bar pretty high with my first two watches. I love the look of a 5370 Patek with a brown dial but not willing to pay $$$. Thx for any thoughts.

My journey with Bucherer

I created this forum as an avenue for watch enthusiasts to share their watch collection journey at the AD. I have always loved wristwatch ever since I can remember. My first watch was a swatch that was given to me by my mother. Subsequent watches were a seiko(from my grandpa) and an old omega watch from my late father.

I collected quite an extensive amount of watches from grey dealers and ADs over the year without the thought of building a relationship as it became a new occurrence since the pandemic. I had great experience with my previous ADs by shorthills mall nj.

My first visit to the KOH bucherer was around 2021 when I had to restart my collection as my previous collections were stolen from me. I met Jordan and we had extensive conversation relating to watches. I visited the store a few time to check in and just to generally talk about watches. I enjoyed our conversation and it was a routine for me to stop by whenever I am at the mall just to check in. I was offered the James Cameron Sea dweller, but I turned it down when I came to the store to try it on. I felt it seats too high on the wrist, and I have a size 8 wrist. Up until that point,I had procured a couple of precious metals watches like the AP, brequet, JLC extreme master control(one of 2 not stolen left). He didn't hold that against me that i turned the sea dweller down. About 2 months later, I was offered a two tone daytona while I was out of the country. They held this watch for me for about a week. I bought the daytona as a daily watch as I now keep my watches at the bank vault now. In between,I took my pink gold JLC extreme master control to service with them.

It took about 2 and a half years before I got my next watch. That was last year October when I was allocated a GMT Bruce wayne. I totally understand the dynamic associated with allocating a watch. You cannot possibly allocate a watch to a walk in over others who have been a loyal patron of the store.I waited, and i often stop by the store to speak with Patrick and Jordan every so often when i am in the area..And by the way,you all need to speak to Patrick. He is a walking watch encyclopedia. He doesn't rush you. You can tell he genuinely enjoy the conversation as well. In between I was able to see that my SAs are avid collectors as well. I saw the coke briefly 2 years ago when I stopped by to see my SA. I also stopped by the store to show my collections up to that point. Every so often,I do share my life journeys with my watch at different continents of the world with my SA.

I got a call yesterday afternoon from an unknown new york number and had initially thought it was a spam call but I decided to pick it up. It was a call for the mint dial sky dweller in Jubilee bracelets that I have always wanted. I had initially communicated that I will be coming to the store to pick it up the next day but my anxiety got the best of me and I decided to pick it up immediately. They were about closed by the time I got there late due to rush hour traffic. They made the time to accommodate me and never rushed me. My experience has been beyond excellent. I like to be objective and truthful always.Being objective is how I keep myself grounded as everything is not always as I assume. If we are being honest,my spend history is not high enough for me to have been allocated this watches. This is a testament to how great this AD is, and have been. I have seen all the horror stories of how much people have spent and still did not get their requested watch. I have experienced it as well. I have been to the 1916 company in Philadelphia, and expressed my interest in a few pieces. They literally tried to sell me the chocolate dial sky dweller which I did not like. I wasn't as upset at that visit as I was at a Subsequent visit where the lady was dismissive and generally uninterested in attending to me. I feign ignorance but my partner noticed and was put off by it. She ofcourse advised I should never patronize the store again.

My other experience was with the WOS in Marlton NJ. The staff are super super nice, but I feel they will string you along and you will end up with nothing. I went to the store because it is local to me and is much closer than KOH. What might not be obvious to them was that I was looking for a one stop shop to get all my jewelries and watches related items . I kept getting a call for all watches except the one I wanted. After about 2 plus years of not getting one single watch,I knew the store was not for me. After getting multiple allocation from KOH,I knew I have found my one stop shop/AD. I do not care if any item i want is cheaper elsewhere,I am buying from Bucherer only. . The experience is bar none and I am overtly happy with them. Please try them out and be patient with the journey. It will be worth it.

[Recommendation Request] Summer Banking Internship Watch

Starting a summer analyst internship at an investment bank in NYC this summer in a few weeks (very excited about it!) and would like advice on what watch I should wear, with the only constraints being:

- my wrist is 6.5 inches
- I’d prefer it be on black leather
- I’m willing to spend max $3000 (but if the answer is that what’s optimal is far below that, I’ll go with that)
- I care more about signalling that I understand the environment (yes, I’m writing this, so clearly I don’t) and will fit in well. Don’t want anything that could reflect negatively on me for being too expensive, too cheap, weird/doesn’t get watches, etc
- very open to buying used/pre-owned if needed

Essentially just hoping to find a one-watch for the summer (and beyond) that is respected by the watch people in the office but certainly not ostentatious.

First Lange

Hey everyone, curious if Lange is hard to get allocations? I’m hopefully celebrating a nice sale and wanted to get a grand Lange 1 in rose gold. Is that a tough piece to get as a first?

I don’t have an AD near me so I would have to travel to get it, so the whole relationship thing is hard. That being said, any recommendations on which AD to pursue in the US?

Recently added a rose gold IWC 521 ‘Shark Fin’ from the 1960’s. Caliber 89. It’s on a cognac alligator strap. I was fortunate enough to find this piece in pristine, unpolished and non-refinished condition.

The other pieces that round up my collection are:

Explorer I ‘Swiss Only’ dial. Ref 14270.

Hamilton Khaki Field Ref 9965. Birth year. Limited one year production. Cordura strap.

Speedmaster sapphire sandwich (new reference). Brushed OEM Omega bracelet swap.

VC Traditionnelle Ref 82172. Pink Gold. Coffee brown alligator strap.

ALS 1815 Up/Down. White Gold. Black alligator strap.

The only other piece that has caught my eye is the new JLC Master Control collection with their new integrated bracelet addition. I’m excited to see reviews once the collection is released to the public later this year.

1815 34mm

Does anyone here have the new 1815 34mm? If so, can you shed some light on how it’s been? Really like the watch but not sure if it’s too small. I have a 6.5inch wrist. I’ve tried it on and it’s “ smallish”but perhaps I need to get accustomed to that. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

This might be a crazy question, but what do you guys do professionally? I think of myself as a reasonably high earner and trying to see what other people do to afford these watches.

Funny I made a post about loving the Rolex Daytona when I first got it but quickly came to realize it didn’t feel like a $20k watch to me and the lack of time legibility bothered me a bit on the black dial lol. Sold it to buy this beauty of a watch. 2nd Lange in my collection and I couldn’t be happier.
