Funny observation of old shows

Thought I'd rewatch "What I like about you" on Netflix since they put it on there. Was first shocked they had to remix the intro to a bad version of the song but looking at the background props throughout the show it makes you do a double take and wonder what stage person thought that would work (shampoo near kitchen sink, car parking on a alley walkway)... Then looking at the cupcake bakery pricing.. tap water is $5.00 but soda is $2.00 😂😂😂 (look at the sign behind her). 90 are funny rewatching it and going "umm...hold on did I just see that right "

Why does the 2020s feel so boring compared to the vibrant energy of the 2000s?

I’ve been thinking about how much culture has changed. The 2000s felt like the perfect balance of digital and analog, but now everything is just algorithms and social media. If you could go back to the 2000s, would you stay there forever? Or are there things about the 2020s that make you want to stay in the present?

Muzzy Commercial

TIL there was another Muzzy commercial. Did anyone else ever see this one? The one I remember was with the old lady who looked like she belonged on the 700 club.

Cybiko PDAs and handheld game consoles (2000-2003)

The Cybiko Classic (bottom) was released in 2000 while the Cybiko Xtreme (top) was released a year later. The line was discontinued around late 2003.

Anyone else miss how simple the 90s/early 2000s felt?

I’ve been working on putting together a small nostalgia-focused Discord centered around the 90s and early 2000s, and it’s slowly starting to come together in a way I’m really excited about.

The whole idea is just having a place to hang out and talk about the stuff we all grew up on — cartoons, movies, games, random memories, life, all of it. Nothing overly complicated, just a chill spot to unwind and revisit that era a bit.

We’ve started doing a few things to keep it active too:

  • Running a Nickelodeon cartoon showdown bracket (some of the matchups have been surprisingly heated)
  • Setting up regular movie nights where we vote on what to watch
  • Sharing old commercials, shows, and random throwback stuff

I’m also personally rebuilding a VHS collection, which has been a fun side project tied into all of this.

If that kind of thing sounds like your vibe, you’re welcome to check it out:

Either way, curious — what’s one show or movie from that era you still go back to?

Time Crisis: Crisis Zone (2004) - Played this game often in 2006-2008

Also played it in 2009-2011, but less often. Furthermore, I saw the arcade game (titled 'Crisis Zone') at the arcade in 2002-2004.
