Howdy fellas, can my Canon Reflex Zoom 8 Take this film? I know the camera needs double 8 and the package says double 8, but I’m confused by the 16mm tag above it and the picture shows 16mm perforations, not 8mm. I know I have to respool it on 10m rolls, I just don’t wanna buy the wrong film.
A new aspect ratio that maximizes the standard Super 8 negative for Vertical Cinema
Hi all, I got my first 8mm roll back from the lab and mainly wanted to check with you if that's a normal result. I was expecting somehow less grain/noise although it's understandable that a 200T film shooting a relatively underlit street wouldn't be crisp.
So is this completely normal? Is there anything I could have done better e.g. camera, film, development/scan, camera settings? Would a 500 film have worked better here? The only conditions where the result was satisfying with my 200T film was under bright sun or day and slight overcast at most and I thought it could do darker setups too.

Hi everyone,
The winding/rewind crank assembly on my Bolex H8 Reflex accidentally came out completely. The shaft is still attached to the crank and doesn’t appear broken, but I can’t get it seated back properly.
I got some super 8 BW film for Christmas. It was forgotten by mistake and I just got it back. I don't think it was put in a fridge or freezer.
Should the film still be ok?

I reckon this is quite a solid deal. The viewfinder is a tad foggy, and some of the panels are missing (beaulieu logo on reverse film door + model text on top left of body). The dials work when you turn them. I’ve heard batteries on these are very expensive. Should I repair it and use it? Is it worth my time to just sell it?
I’ve been a photographer for ~10 years but have never used film. The lens on this camera seems exceptional; 1.8 continuous for 6-66mm! Maybe I can purchase an adapter for one of my DLSRs although i’m sure the flange distance would give me lots of trouble for it being 8mm.
Could anyone give me more information about this camera? Is it worth repairing? What would you do with it?
Some super 8 footage from The Wonder Years residency at the TLA last month. First part of the video was shot on a Nizo S560 and the back half was shot on a Beaulieu 4008 ZMII. Audio is from the last show on 4/15/26.
I’ve been getting into preserving media the past few years. I’ve been learning a lot about proper formats for things, aspect ratios, bitrate, interlacing, etc and have done a few projects for friends with DVDs, CDs, and VHS.
But I’ve got a friend who’s been asking to convert a bunch of old 8mm and other types of film reels (he’s a reseller so he comes across a wide variety of stuff) and I’ve been trying to research the best method to do it myself. I think it’s an incredibly useful thing to learn for myself at least and I’ve hit a roadblock.
The easy answer is to ship it off to Legacybox or another similar company. But I want to do it myself. But I’m not sure what the best machine converter would be, and I’m looking for general advice from people who’ve been doing this themselves. What are some things you learned? What machines do you use? Things to avoid? I’m looking to invest so I don’t really mind a higher price point for a high quality machine. Where did you learn all of your skills? Any general pointers would be incredibly useful and helpful. Even if you guys have a YouTube series or want to message etc. It’s one of the last formats I’ve yet to learn.
Was testing out a new digest and when I thread it up, it’s projecting like this. Any help on what I’m doing wrong? No other prints I own are jumpy like this, is it a reel issue?
I just wanted to post this as a warning to others looking to get transfers. I'm waiting on business hours to call and see if they will honor the price, but doubt it. Screenshots are from the site pricing still to this day, and the form after I sent in my reels.
I sent in 9 Super8 films I found. Off the site they would be $9.99/each with an $18.50 return charge. So my total should be $108.41 and I put down a $10 deposit and sent them in.
I get the email today to fill out for the order. it is now listing $18/50 ft, a $50 service fee, $3 to rewind the films to your reels, and unknown on return shipping charge. A second payment would be charged at completion.
Absolute bait and switch.
Taking the return to still be $18.50, that would put the order at $257.50, or $149.09 above what the site shows when you order!
