Burger Chef in Midland, Michigan - April 1980
I believe I just took the only documented/openly available image of this ultra-rare McDonald’s dipping sauce!
04/15 UPDATE: SAUCE SOLD!!!
[+ QUESTIONS & WISDOM(S) “from GRAMMY to Y’ALL”in the EDITS BELOW!]
{{ ORIGINAL BODY POST: I found this in my 93 year-old grandmother’s “fast food drawer“ I’ve researched the sauce and I do not exaggerate when I say the following: I believe this may be the only photograph of an orange sauce packet! Give it a shot! Prove me wrong and find one. }}
EDIT I (04•09•2026)
• tagging name “McDonald’s Holiday Orange Sauce” packet so google can pull this post for future image searches!
EDIT II (04•10•2026)
• I’ve been contacted by a “procurement agent” on behalf of some anonymous monocle-wearing saucier type (well, that’s how I am enjoying imagining him in my mind, LOL)!!! Stay tuned, my r/GrandmasPantry fam… the STEADILY GROWING LORE OF THIS POST is feeling (dare I say?) INCREASINGLY REDDIT-HOF WORTHY ;)
EDIT III (04•10•2026)
• Grandma says, “tell all of your nice internet friends and their families that Grammy says ‘hi!’” and she also added, “remind them if they ever feel alone, don’t forget that ‘Grammy loves you more!’”** **(That’s her little sign-off saying :)
EDIT IV (04•11•2026)
• Okay y’all, Grammy and I still have two more super fun weeks together while we wait for her new live–in caregiver to start (and her new supplemental insurance to take effect) so there maaaay be a lot more updates to this post because, GUYS: she has been getting the BIGGEST KICK*(s)* out of how many people are, “finally on [her] side that [my] ole’ Paw Paw was just plain crazy for always try’na throw out her dang bread ties and sauces!!!” She wants to thank everyone for, “making this old girl feel remembered again…”** **and for, “reminding [her] that making someone smile is the greatest gift of all.”
NOW: she has THREE questions for everyone:
A) What do YOU think it’s worth?
B) What would YOU buy (or donate to)? and,
C) Has anyone told you that you are special and loved today?
She says, “if anyone says, ‘no’ to my third question, you tell them that I just told’em they’re both special n’ loved* —you tell me their name’n then tell’em I said it just now in my head — *so they’re just not allowed to say, ‘no’!!! ***n’***Now Grammy don’t lie, ya hear?!?”*
EDIT V (04•12•2026)
• Okay! Grammy has decided she would like to have me help her attend a Zoom meeting with u/McProcurement-Agent tomorrow (Monday, April 13th, 2026)! So my r/GrandmasPantry fam is fully aware: I will be acting as her assistant and technology advisor :) — any and all funds that may be obtained through this hypothetical transaction will be hers to do with as she pleases. We were busy with her healthcare yesterday so we are about to go through and look at the newest comments to see if anyone has left her any advice for tomorrow’s meeting! I spoke with the broker and he informed that we are, “more than welcome to share all information regarding the meetings (as everything regarding the buyer’s personal information will remain confidential). I have been lucky enough to receive two bachelors degree and I’m currently attending a higher education doctor program, so I promise to my Reddit family to protect Grandma from a possible scam situations. She is having so much fun with this and I think everyone for making this the highlight of her 2026!
EDIT VI (04•13•2026)
• We have had the chance to speak with some AMAZING people regarding finding Grams’s sauce it’s next home. An especially special thanks to u/DinosaurDracula for reaching out and sharing his extensive knowledge over just how cool this find was and is :) Another shout out to u/ConsumerTimeCapsule for their exciting offer to have me (and maybe Grams?) on one of their social-media videos/podcasts/etc. to further document this historical Reddit thread — of which you have ALL become a part of!!!
• Alas, Grammy has decided she would like to move forward with our late-afternoon meeting today hosted by u/McProcurement-Agent on behalf of an anonymous buyer. Essentially ALL details of this meeting will be devoid of the juicy information regarding our mystery buyer’s identity and reasonings… but the agent DID tell me I was free to share with everyone the monitory details, y’all ready for this?!?
• Grams was Apple Cash’d $1000 JUST for agreeing to today’s zoom meeting! I already had those funds transferred into her bank account, and the bank has verified everything is legit! My current understanding is that once the sauce is visually verified on camera and the buyer’s shipment terms are agreed to, she will receive our agreed upon offer (via PayPal) immediately… The buyer’s initial/pre-meeting offer? $25,000!!! Grams has plans to pay a few years in full for her home-living caretaker and rent, and I am going to help her set up a new account she can use for grocery shopping and other day-to-day necessities. Trust me, this still seems too good to be true; however, there will be (at no cost to us) a lawyer acting as intermediary for both parties and at any point during today’s meeting we will have the option to back out (without losing her $1k meeting-agreement payment)! Thanks for staying tuned, Reddit family, and as usual:
EDIT VII (04•15•2026)
• Reddit and u/GrandmasPantry family… IT’S OFFICIAL: We’ve sold the world’s ONE & ONLY McDONALD’S HOLIDAY ORANGE SAUCE FOR TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!
• I waited an entire day for the funds to clear and enter Grammy’s savings account before posting, but there is no longer a single question as to the authenticity of this transaction!!! They were all extremely strange (the Zoom meetings, that is), but at one point, the buyer (who remained off camera throughout everything) did speak up and audibly informed us that the reason for his generosity in this transaction was that his grandfather (who he stated, gave him the business that made him a multimillionaire) parentheses die the day after they shared a final lunch together when he was only six years old. The lunch consisted of a 1988 McDonald’s Holiday McNugget meal. He informed that the sauce would be framed alongside other memorabilia honoring his grandfather and the “billion dollar company” left in the buyer‘s name.
• this time I’m not so sure, but as usual:

I can remember both my local McDonald’s and Hardee’s having separate party rooms that you could rent out. Times have sure changed.
