Hello, anyone knows which pickup is this?
Opinions on the fusion edge 7? I recently bought a HB baritone 7 SBK 27” and now I want to replace the pickup, I don’t want a lundgren or bare knuckle cos they are too expensive, neither a fishmans cos it’s now way I’m going to drill the wood.
I’m between the fusion edge, D activators, Nazgûl, JB JS-4 and black winter. I could get the fusions for about 70$ (very cheap) but in reviews I saw they are a bit too muddy but still a lot of guitar players use it!
I want something for the studio, note definition, mid/high or high gain, passives. Cheers!
I just got home from work and found the Sweetwater box on the porch. This is my first 7-string. An ESP E-II T-B7 28”. I think I’m in love. I snapped a few photos but now I want to go and play it!
For playing stuff like Currents, Erra and Clayton king. Under 800 AUD. Any suggestions appreciated.
I have a schecter reaper 7 multiscale, 25.5 - 27 scale length. I just want to hear from others about what gauge they use, what kind of tension they get or like (a bit floppy? Tight? Middle ground?) What scale lengths you have etc.
Ive been playing in drop A on my other 7 string which is a 26.5 and I use 11-68 for that but it feels too floppy. Ive experimented but just can't seem to find something that works.
Ideally i would prefer something not to loose and not too tight, somewhere in the middle. What is a good syarying point? I was thinking a 10-52 + .70
Thanks in advance
I swapped out the Fishman Fluence Moderns for a Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgûl set. I also put in CTS push-pull pots for coil splitting each pickup. I am very happy with the way this sounds!
I prefer the sound of passive to active pickups, but I did not expect to like the coil split options as much as I do. When playing with very high gain settings (or even a fuzz) and a 27" scale guitar in A standard (aka D standard 7 string) tuning, the coil split sounds are useful for getting a bit more articulation as well as sounding really great clean.
I really tried with FIshman Fluence Moderns, but I just don't like them and have too many other passive pickup guitars that would necessitate constant re-dialing of amp+pedal settings and/or presets on my Quad Cortex to go back and forth between active and passive. So, those who love them, more power to you, but respectfully you can keep your Fishmans, they simply don't do it for me. ;)
For anyone like me considering it, this combo works and I highly recommend the extra soldering work to put in coil split option. This guitar has been reborn and I really love it!
Hey guys, I just want to share my new upload music. Please listen and comment. Thanks!
really been wanting this guitar but i’m kind of scared to pull the trigger cuz i’ve heard the fanned frets can be a real learning curve. was wondering what people with experience thought about them?
-Canadian made MJS custom pickups. Best pickups I've ever played. Get it from him and he'll talk to you for an hour about what you want.
The bridge pickup is neodymium magnet and 22k ohm resistance and a steel core and I put copper plates under the pickups for more inductance.
Middle pickup was a single coil that I took out because I didn't use it.
The neck pickup is unique. The pole pieces are the magnets so that when I split it sounds more like a real single coil.
-28-in scale length (regret not getting 27)
-Hipshot bridge floating tremolo (GOTOH Will be next)
-Spertzel blocking tuners (anyone prefer GOTOH over this?)
- Tremsetter and 2 springs (going to have to make some rigging to put two tremsetters for more stability after staying Steve vai's guitar had 2)
- push push pots which I'm going to get rid of and just do a regular one because they sound different and I don't care what you say but they do
I need a recommendation for a neck pickup that fits the following criteria:
Might not be the most aggressive looking nor unique looking, but she's a gorgeous rare find
Hello, im about to calibrate and set my 27”guitar to drop F#.
I’m use to high gauges but I always struggle with playing leads on it (11-54 in drop D).
Do you recommend the 10-74 (8 string set)or are they going to feel very loose? I feel 80 is a bit too much innit?
Do I discard the 0.64 and run 10-13-17-30-42-54-74?
Another thing, I’m from Argentina so custom sets are not an option, there are not options available going from 0.11 to 74 neither and buying 2 sets is very expensive here (30$ aprox)

I’ve had this ‘99 LTD M-207 for… 10-12 years? It started life metallic purple, but had some serious chunks taken out of the body when I got it, all the way through to the wood. Stripped it bare and did a *horrible* job of spraying a clear coat on it. Over the years it’s had a variety of pickups (currently a Bareknuckle True Grit in the bridge and a matching neck waiting), upgraded to a real Floyd Rose, had my local tech take out the tone pot, move the volume, and install a coil split.
ALL THAT TO SAY: A few years ago the truss rod broke, and I recently *finally* found an exact replacement, an honest to god exact same model and year! Swapped it out the other day, and finally remembered to take (shitty) pictures.
Anyway, that’s its story. I’m stoked to have it playable again; it’s worn, it’s ugly, and I don’t care, I love it!
