Silver Surfer.

My last cut was 7 days ago. I cut my hair at a #3 guard closed against the grain. I plan to let it grow another week, then cut it at a #4 guard closed.

My brush pattern:

• Top → brush straight forward toward the forehead

• Sides → brush slightly diagonal toward the ear

• Back → brush straight down

Recipe: Castor oil, Brush, Compression and Time.

Did you have 🌊🌊🌊 embedded on your scalp⁉️
Far too often we are concerned about what others will think about how our hair looks. What we fail to remember is that we are scalping with a purpose. This is an opportunity to better refine your angles & to build a true foundation for your crown. It’s a breeding grounds for your vision.

Cooked. Hair is like a 4 guard length, but thinning so bad it looks low. I'm tall, so people don't see it, but I can't even tie my shoes with someone looking surprised lol. Reminder to all of y'all to be thankful while you got it!

Is waving getting me hair loss/traction alopecia?

The first photo is from about 2 months ago. I started actively brushing and going for waves roughly a month and a half ago. The second photo is from today.

I've always had a naturally thinner hairline and have been using Minoxidil for over a year, which has helped. Recently though, I noticed my corners looking thinner. Hair loss does run in my family, but my hairline has been pretty stable for the past couple years. It just seems like since I started getting waves, it's gotten worse. I'm 18 for reference.

Yeaaaa I’m either not brushing enough or using the wrong products/routine.

Sooo it’s the start of week 3 after cutting to a 2. I can only see waves at the top and back at certain angles and lighting.

I did a wash and styled last week and they were very noticeable(obviously) but disappeared once I did my regular routine. Now they are barely noticeable from the angles I know. No idea what I should do now.

Update and Products used.

So I’ve been in the wave game since about ‘05. I’ve been seeing unnecessary wave products being sold on Tik Tok and I want to let y’all know it’s unnecessary and it’s better to stick with classics. Here’s some of my favorite products at the moment…

Shampoo and Conditioner: Crème of Nature Argan Oil. Gets your hair clean but also leaves it very moisturized. I like to follow up with the leave in conditioner crème as well.

Pomade/Grease: I’ve been using Black Magic Light Pomade. It provides a nice hold and shine while also being moisturizing. Not too bad washing out either

Blue Magic is also one of my go to greases. Everyone knows it’s a staple in our community and there’s a reason people still buy it, it just works.

Also, make sure you get your brushing in while you’re doing mundane things. Hell, sometimes I’ll be at my work desk checking emails and brushing. It’s that easy.
