Hello all, I literally joined this gym less than 2 weeks ago, and 1 week later they posted that they were closing for a month (starting today) for upgrades. Very annoyingly did not mention this to me when I was signing up.

Main reason I upgrades to this gym over PF is the pool.

The next closests 24 gyms are about 30 min away and not all are open 24hrs so realistically, I will have to do something else for a month.

Is there any recourse for me here? I just sent a very angry email to the 24hr online inquiry email through my account but not sure if that will get me anywhere. Ideally I would like for them to extend my membership for 1 month for free to make up for the time lost.

Or is there another avenue I should be taking? I threatened to cancel and do a charge back on my credit card since I literally have only had access to this gym for 10 days til this point.

UPDATE: I go reply back to my message. I asked them to award me an extra month... they instead froze my membership for a month.

I drove to the nearest 24 hour fitness today and THAT one is also closing for renovation starting this week. My thought was that since I paid for year membership, I at least would be able to go some weekends IF they didnt freeze my membership. So just annoyed at the situation overall.

I could join another gym for just this month.... but that would involve paying for membership dues on top of a month of gym usage, so I just feel like 24 is really ducking me over and really trying hard to make things right by me.

Is anyone else having an issue with the 24 fitness App where your membership barcode will not display when you open the App?

It has been like this for over 2 weeks, and yet I notice other folks signing in with their QR code no problem, I was also able to sign in via QR code until I mysteriously could not 2 weeks ago

I have signed out of the app, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app still no code

It is really annoying to have to manually sign in and have to explain this issue to the front desk every time, Im planning on cancelling my membership due to this

I’ve worked out at a range of gyms, and honestly one thing that stands out at 24 Hour Fitness is that the equipment is solid, but the cleanliness experience can be really inconsistent depending on the location and time of day.

Curious where others land on this, but I feel like a few simple changes could make a big difference:

• More visible and consistent reminders to wipe down equipment after use

• Staff doing periodic walk-throughs to reinforce cleanliness (not just relying on signs)

• Better access to wipes/spray so there’s no excuse not to clean up

• Clear expectations around things like leaving trash, gum, or personal items behind

I’m not even saying this needs to be super strict or over-policed, but right now it feels like the people who care are carrying the burden for everyone else.

Would love to hear if other locations are better about this, or if anyone has seen policies that actually work.

Without my consent, an employee used my card to purchase a commitment gym membership even though I told him I didn’t want it at all and wanted just to try the $1 5 day pass he offered me because I didn’t qualify for the 3 day free pass. I didn’t sign anything…… no contract no nothing no agreement Hecks I didn’t even sign anything or was shown anything, just paided the $1 but he went behind my back and did it either way and I found out today. I went today and these guys had the nerve to say to cancel it I had to pay a $50 fee for something that WASNT MY FAULT. I told him what they were doing was straight up illegal, they gave me a number that doesn’t work at all. I called multiple times but its a stupid robot that doesn’t help with anything, as soon as I give it my gym info, it just says thank you and hangs up. I’ve sent emails to 24 customer service but I’m yet to hear back
anyone with a 24 hour membership, be careful, these guys are straight up thieves, in total I’ve been charged $160 without my consent.
I’m going back Monday, if nothing is resolved, I’m throwing closed fists at all employees

New deal?

This is in San Diego area. I was offered lifetime $99 membership but the first year I have to pay $840 but I guess that I includes buddy pass and some training sessions...just wondering if anyone has tried this? I currently pay $293.59 / year. So for this new deal to be with it for me id have to wait like 4 years...I just idk if I trust that 24 hour fitness will be going strong 5-10 years into the future.
