r/1980s
When I saw “No Retreat, No Surrender” at the movie theater in 1986, not only did I love it, but I told my friends that the Russian guy was gonna be a huge star in the future haha. Any fans here of No Retreat, No Surrender?
What were you taught in school that is now considered obsolete and or incorrect? I myself loved home economics and it’s probably the only thing I learned in school that I actually use today. It’s practical life skills like cooking, cleaning, budgeting, etc…
Lemonade Stands
When I was a kid, I had a lemonade stand with some neighborhood friends. I still think about the guy that that gave us a $20 and said keep the change. Friends and I took our profits and went to Pizza Hut feeling adultish at our first sit down meal with no adults. Dad asked how things went so I told him all the details. Same day, I also learned about tipping. Dad went to Pizza Hut, found the server, and made it right. I learned a LOT of lessons that day ❤️ Important ones. I still pay it forward at lemonade stands today.
This is the guy that’s bringing back the Pizza Huts from the 80’s

Sizzler menu ca. 1986
To think, those seafood prices were considered expensive then. I had a combo from In N Out that cost that much a couple of days ago.

Anyone remember this little gem of an organized crime detective period piece?
Absolutely loved this show! Michael Mann wrote and directed a handful. Slightly appreciated at the same time as the Miami Vice juggernaut which might’ve been why it got lost. Dennis Farina was new to acting and it was fantastic! Any thoughts?
I'm a 2000s Born, Any Good Recs
I was born in the 2000s, I been into 70s/80s rock & roll as a teen and just kinda got back into lately. Also a huge fan of cinema and I've been doing a lot of cinema study recently, what would you guys say are some GREAT 1980s films that define what it was like back then / how it felt / looked visually. Favorite directors of those times, actors, ect. Appreciate it
