There’s a fun/good game here but somethings still feel funky

A little background, I’ve been playing mostly tag fighters since mvc2 re-released on ps3. Lots of hours on umvc3, dbfz, battle for the grid, mvci, 2xko and gbvsr (I know not a tag fighters). I dabbled with bbtag and nen impact but they weren’t my thing. Basically I’m at the level where I’m too good for friends but probably wouldn’t get too far in a local. I know stuff but I’m the best at the stuff I know.

Anyway, I’m not sure if it’s just me not being in tune with this game’s systems yet or what but stuff doesn’t feel great. I think one of the main things that bothers me is that normals seem to have a larger hitbox than you expect. I’ve seen and encountered lots of people getting clipped by a light attack that in other games wouldn’t have registered as a hit, but here it does, which can then lead to bigger damage.

Something else that I’m still getting used to is being able to go from special move back into a LMH combo. In other games comboing after a special usually means that the special had some kind of bounce, jump cancel property, or you were in the corner. Here that’s not how it is. It is something unique about the game, and I’m glad the devs tried something new but I think there’s something wrong with the execution.

Assists usability is weird. Lots of people have said this, but a person in block stun shouldn’t be able to call an assist.

Combo and tag breakers. I like that this game included them but again it’s a thing of the execution might need some polishing. The game allows you to do crazy damage with its tag system but at the same time the ease of being able to break combos does feel frustrating at times. I got the hit, maybe I can go for a big damage before trying to active tag? Nope combo break. Or I got the hit, hope I can do some decent damage with active tag,nope tag break. I feel like after getting a hit I shouldn’t have to worry so much about how interrupted it will be.

Also combo breaking feels weird. In 2xko, you combo break and the combo is over. Here sometimes you combo break and it’s like “oh you timed it wrong, here’s a mini happy birthday.”

There’s other stuff that’s weird like why is there so much push back on blocked LMH? Should we just be doing LM special as a block string to try and prevent assist calls during block strings?

Again the game is cool, and I’m going to keep playing it, but I do hope the dev team looks at tightening things up and maybe making adjustments that don’t make the game feel as frustrating.

Anyone using this and finding the scroll from top to bottom reading format suddenly stop working? Server issue?

I would have posted on the actual sub (if it was still a thing), but I can’t.

So season is ending.

We know another patch is coming.

We know Senna is on the way, at some point.

Here’s hoping we get some news soon, maybe some more teases.

I want to know more about the new fuse and what’s the theme of next season.

What about you guys?
