Best option for adding a drain plug?

Looking to add a drain plug to the pan on my 4l60e. What do y'all prefer, bolt in, weld in, or just buy a new pan with a drain?

Rebuilt 4l60e dies when put into any gear.

SOLVED!! - I have never been so happy to be an idiot. I had the TCC valve and spring in upsidedown!

The big moment came today after going through my 4l60e, unfortunately when I put it in drive for the first time it just brought the engine to a stop before I even let me foot off the brake. I'm assuming this means my torque converter (new reman) is locked when it shouldn't be. I tried unplugging the electrical connector and it make no difference. Any advice before I drop the pan? I plan to check the seal on the tcc solenoid and make sure the valve moves freely. Really really hoping I didn't damage the o ring on the input shaft when installing the converter. I installed a Transgo shift kit as well as a couple other goodies but I don't think any would effect the converter lock. 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Also really wishing I would have installed a drain plus while the pan was off!

I'm in the final stages of my budget 4l60e rebuild for my 2004 Tahoe. As much as I'd like to slap that original torque converter back on, the general consensus seems to be that that's a big no no. However, in shopping for one (TMBX code) I have found them ranging from under $200 for a reman from my local parts store to close to $1,000 for a new one. I don't tow, I don't race, this is just a stock refresh for a daily driver. Any recommendations?

I've run into a snag with my 2004 Tahoe 4l60e build. I ordered parts for an '04 but the separator plate I ordered says it's for 2007-2011. I emailed Global Transmission who I bought it from and they said it's an upgraded part. Is it safe to use? I've attached pictures of the original plate showing two blue dots where holes for the AFL are missing on the new one and the new one has an extra passage (circled in yellow). Do I run it or get the year correct plate?

I got a new (bonded) separator plate for my 2004 Tahoe 4l60e, I noticed that there are two large holes missing in the new plate. They are highlighted in blue in the first picture of the original plate. I've been digging through my manual trying to figure this one out on my own but hopefully someone can enlighten me to if this is a problem. I believe they are for the actuator feed limit circuit.

This is kind of just a rant, but here goes, I was on the home stretch putting my 4l65e back together when something strange happened. I was spinning the gear train after putting the output shaft in and noticed it was binding a little every once in a while. After a little investigation I found that one of my input carrier planet gears was seized and sitting off center in it's housing. After a lot of wiggling it finally started moving again but was super loose and wobbled around in the bore like it had no bearings. Now suddenly it's fine again like nothing was ever wrong. This came out of a functioning transmission that I personally drove into the shop and I thoroughly cleaned and inspected the planetary before reinstalling, so I'm at a little bit of a loss here. I'm assuming this is junk. I do have a 4 pinion planetary out of a 4l60e I could swap in, but I've read you shouldn't mix and match used gear train components? Has anyone ever experienced something like that? Is there any practical way to take the gear apart and service the bearings or should I just be ordering a full front planet assembly?

I suspect I just saved myself from a catastrophic failure, but man I was so close to finally buttoning this thing up today!
