I am negative! 3 tests, husband 2 tests! Past the 4 week mark. Took a biome test and it’s insane but everything was basically perfect. Totally felt better all in all, then we had sex on Monday, next day urethral irritation (no burning while peeing) it was more just a constant dull or ache. The next day Wednesday I finally felt normal again, and then a squatted to pee wnd kind of had to push the pee out and it immediately again felt the same sensation. The constant dull ache pain, and it’s been there since. Today being Saturday. Gradually feeling better. Has anyone else experienced this? I defiantly know my body is healing from inflammation, just looking for reassurance I’m not crazy.

This isn’t advice but I wanted to tell my complete story because I was once scrolling and scrolling on Reddit trying to calm myself down and find someone that matched symptoms. If that’s you, take a deep breath. This isn’t a disease!! This is overgrowth of bacteria that some people can live with in balance. It is only when your vaginal biome isn’t suited for the bacteria or its over grown causing inflammation, thus causing symptoms.

In 2019-2020 I got symptoms of repeated UTIs and yeast infections. I would treat them and move on. Before this I got a UTI maybe once a year if that. Then one time I got a UTI and then the symptoms never went away. Burning with peeing etc. being uncomfortable I can’t tell you how many doctor visits I had gone too and everything always was cleared. I found Ureaplasma myself, and tested for it in the end of 2021 came back positive. My boyfriend and I both get treated (here’s what happened) I never knew about Reddit back then so me and my boyfriend at the time (now husband) took Azi 500 mg and didn’t refrain from sex. Why? Just literally never told too. After being treated my symptoms flared, I had an odor, watery discharge, burning after peeing, almost a crampy feeling, chronic sore throats (not a lot of research saying it’s related but adding it in incase someone else can relate) and over all cramping feeling almost in my vagina and frequent urgency to pee and clitorus felt a lot of pressure. I had at-least 3-4 doctor visits after this never did they test me if I was confirmed negative. Everything was always “okay” so I literally gave up. I was so mentally exhausted from going to appointments. In 8-12 months during and after this, all my symptoms went away. My body just found a way to balance it and I wasn’t in any discomfort. My only symptom was I peed a lot but I didn’t really care because I also drank so much water.

FAST FORWARD: This February I went in for my yearly and I was like you know what. I’m thinking of kids soon let’s just see. And it was positive for UP and BV (both asymptomatic), so my NP does Azi again for me and my husband. Symptoms that I didn’t have since 2021 all came back, and bladder infection symptoms and vaginal burning mostly like the outside and inside the lips. Obviously my test came back still positive so I take 14 days of Doxy twice a day. Waited a week, I’m negative. I retested after 4-5 weeks and I’m negative. But huge thing I want to give people hope for, my husband took 2 PCR tests first catch and his were negative and he only took Azi. I was being treated for BV as well during this time the gel didn’t work, so I took the Metra pills but had horrible reaction and stopped at 5 days (the worst urethra pain ever and it stopped a day after stopped taking it). During this time (in treatment) I had insane crazy out of the blue symptoms espically being asymptotic to start with was incredible frustrating and confusing. Everyday is better and some days are the same. But after almost 5 weeks I am feeling almost normal again, but not 100% maybe 75%. By that I mean, sometimes i feel like I have to pee again after I peed already (epically after going number 2), vaginal burning but I feel like that’s because I am so dry + friction and that’s improving!, sometimes it burns after i pee but that’s the irritated tissue, random pain that last like 2 secs around the clitorus area. I wanted to share this because a lot of posts made me so worried because I didn’t follow up with Azi. Trust your body, give it time to actually heal. This bacteria causes so much inflammation that the body needs time to find a balance again. I wanted to add that I saw almost every post say refrain from sex. My husband and I over the 6 weeks had protected sex and it was fine. I listened to my doctors advise and he said protected sex only. We didn’t do oral so I can’t say for that. I just thought maybe someone who’s lost searching for answers and symptoms maybe will benefit from this. 14 days of doxy twice a day, and I had UP probably almost 5-6 years. Be kind and patient with your bodies and always advocate for yourself.
