Wheelchair user - UK to NYC

Hi all! As the title suggests, I am a wheelchair user, and if any of you know first hand what air travel is like for people like me...well, I'm sorry!

I'm from the UK, and my best friend lives near NYC. I'd like to spend 2 to 3 weeks in the states with my friend, then return home. In order to visit her, going on a transatlantic cruise from Southampton to New York City would be my best bet. It would certainly be the most comfortable option for me.

I know flying is much quicker, but the length of time it takes to get there doesn't concern me. I'd rather spend 10 times as long in a boat in comfort than take one flight in extreme discomfort. The pain the flight would cause me would last days or weeks and ruin the holiday, anyway!

However my issue is this; cruises are so expensive! I'm very low income due to being disabled (yay 🙃). I could save over the next year but honestly I don't think I could pay any more than £1500 for a roundtrip. It's frustrating because flights are only around £500 for a roundtrip which is so much cheaper, but annoyingly not doable for me anymore. I've only been in a wheelchair a couple years so this is extra frustrating for me as I used to a) have more money and b) be able to just hop on a plane.

So, if anyone has any advice on how to get cheap transatlantic cruisess for a disabled pauper like myself, that would be great! Or if it's just to tell me it's not doable for my budget, fair enough. I'd rather people be honest!

Truly though, I just miss my bestie and really want to see her again 💔

Thanks in advance!
