This rebuild era has been a huge disappointment
Out of all the top 100 prospects they have had since 2020, only a few have actually reached their potential which is disappointing. On paper this team looked like it could have been dominant and it’s looking like they can almost use a whole new rebuild again.
Out of all the top 100 prospects only a few have really done well in the majors.
Since 2020
Adley Rutchman- good player but has battled nothing but injuries lately. Was supposed to be the best catcher since Buster Posey but that has yet to be seen
Grayson Rodriguez- Bust and always injured
DL Hall- Traded but has been fairly successful in the bullpen for the Brewers
Ryan Mountcastle- Solid player but has regressed
Heston Kjerstad- Bust and always injured
Gunnar Henderson- Only consistent one who has been a star player
Colton Cowser- Not a complete bust but not as good as we’d hoped he be. Below league average hitter.
Jackson Holliday- Too early to tell
Jordan Westburg- Has looked good but injuries are an issue
Joey Ortiz- Traded and hasn’t looked too great
Samuel Bassalo- Too early to tell
Coby Mayo- Looking like a bust
For us that’s really 1-3 players you can say have really worked out and nether Holliday or Bassalo have done enough to grant a whole bunch of confidence that there going to be star players at the major level.
Then you move onto the other failures who weren’t top 100 prospects but players who were supposed to make a difference like Chayce McDermott and Jud Fabian that have been disappointing. Even Bradford hasn’t really inspired much confidence that he’s going to be an impactful big league player.
