my little retro a/v corner is growing comfortably

hey all, i decided to incorporate this CRT PC monitor into my retro hi-fi last year and i’ve adored it. it’s connected to the HDMI output of my reciever so all the signals the reciever gets - from VHS, DVD, and my media server, all can get sent to it. i’ve really enjoyed watching blu-ray rips on it, along with using it to show what i’m playing on apple music as shown above. the monitor is a compaq MV740. if you guys have any questions related to the gear i have, let me know.

budget retro corner is growing comfortably.

here’s my little “hi-fi” which has been growing a lot as of lately.

most components have been hand-me-downs, thrifted from goodwills, or found very cheap on ebay in some instances.

reciever is a sony STR-DH810 from goodwill. 7.1 capable but i only use it for dual zone stereo. speakers are JBL J2050s and Bose 301 series IVs, and are hand-me-downs from my dad. the sub (not pictured) is a velodyne SPL also handed down from my dad.

components are as follows: Technics SL-P117 CD player, JVC XV-S500 DVD player, sony TC-R302 cassette deck, sony SLV-998HF VHS VCR, Audio technica AT-LP120XUSB turntable (not pictured), and 2013 mac pro (not pictured, used as streaming box/media server)

display is a Compaq MV740 computer CRT monitor. connected to HDMI out from the reciever by a HDMI to VGA adapter. great for playing emulated games on, or watching dvds.

finally united big and little brother.

hey all, long time mac pro user and enthusiast here. last year i retired my 2010 5,1 as my main machine, and upgraded to an m4 pro macbook pro. i do miss tinkering with the 5,1 a lot, i’ve upgraded it to the max so there’s not much more i can do.

so, i decided to purchase a 2013 mac pro to tinker with a bit and use as a home server. i’ve got quite a few plans for it and i think it’ll make a killer minecraft server / NAS / piece of art to sit on a shelf.
