[Watercolor Leaves and Florals] An Oldie but a Goodie!

Painted a few years ago in a handmade “Willa” journal, and I’m still very happy with it!

Attempting to make stickers out of my abstract watercolor leaves and florals.

Scanned the watercolor floral paintings in after fussy cutting them out. Used Procreate to prepare the file for printing, then printed on an Epson EcoTank printer. Not sure where I’m going with this, but I would love to give stickers like this out to friends and family!

What I made today (mid day edition): Motherboards from Gelli prints

I’m working on a decorative tray project from Cathy Nichols in Fodder School 5. Her color mixing and Gelli printing lessons were fantastic.

Why spend countless hours painting with watercolors in a journal?

Because nothing calms me down and relaxes my nervous system like repetitive, simple, hand crafting. And color mixing is such a delight! Then of course there’s the small challenge of creating a new design for the pattern. Combine all three and for me, this is an addiction!!!!

What I Made Today

Some watercolor brush lettering and drawn letters with a black pen in my Willa Journal. It’s been a super busy day and I got a lot of admin stuff done, along with some jello printing that I can’t show you for two weeks!

Do you ever design your own papers for your junk journaling?

I recently (finally) learned how to use Procreate for the iPad. Making my own patterns and printing them out to use in my junk journals has been a game changer. Not sure this still qualifies as junk journaling though!!!

Watercoloring for relaxation and meditation in my art journal

When I paint and draw letters with watercolor paint and pens, it helps me to slow down and relax my nervous system. I also have an opportunity to really contemplate whatever quote I’m lettering, which I find very life affirming.

Have you ever tried watercolor brush lettering?

These journal pages are still a work in progress. Creating them is super duper relaxing! Like meditating!!!!

Does anyone else paint watercolor in a journal as a meditation practice?

Hands down, watercolor for relaxation journaling is my favorite form of art to make because I am guaranteed to just go right into flow state!!!! Calms my frantic nervous system like nothing else does.

Does anyone else like to create their own stencils for collage fodder creation using digital tools like Procreate and a Cricut?

Trying to cut and glue my stress away.

Dealing with life’s unfortunate crap. Spent $950 getting medical care for a cat that is never going to stop fighting with whatever enemies are out there. But if we try to keep him inside, he attacks us. Perhaps working in my art journal will provide some necessary distraction?

How many people only make small projects with their quilt tops? My plan is to make this into a paintbrush roll, or maybe a few zipper pouches, or a pillow. But honestly, I just enjoy the process of making the tops. Are their folks who would turn a big top into an actual quilt for me?

I don’t know what I love more, sewing or collecting fabrics?!?

Ordered these online and I’m so excited to dig in!!!
