I've got a basic idea for an asymmetrical multiplayer boomer shooter that I'd like to run by y'all...

Goonslop (placeholder title) is a 1v4 game where one person plays as the action hero protagonist who can do all sorts of things, and four people play as the disposable goons, grunts, mercenaries, and minions of the BBEG.

The protag has to complete objectives as fast as he can, and the goons have to stop him. The goons can die as much as they like, but the protag only has to die once for victory to be achieved.

To make it a little more fair, the protag has 100 health and armor, as well as a wealth of weaponry, while the goons have 50 health, no armor, and a dinky pistol that shoots projectiles. The goons also stagger for a second when their health is halved, are susceptible to friendly fire, and loudly call out their actions to announce to the protag what they're doing.

It's supposed to be like Doom Eternal's Battlemode, where a fully stocked Slayer (the protag) goes against player-controlled demons (the goons), but instead of there being two heavy demons there's four fodder demons, and instead of the Slayer winning when both demons are dead, he wins when a map-specific objective is complete.

She tried to make some friends, but all her attempts to make life resulted in a great number of repulsive jelly things.

“That's it!” she thought. “If I can't make friends, I'll TAKE friends!”

And so she did. She wormed her way into the minds of the wild animals living among her, and soon she had thousands of spiky things, furry things, and not furry furry things, all worshiping her. But though she was content watching over her flock at first, it wasn't enough. She had to have more.

So she breached the very bounds of space and time, searching for another realm for her to expand her reach into, and after a millennia of searching, she found one. It was a wonderful realm of swords and sorcery, with all sorts of wonderful new things to worship her. Unfortunately, the realm was quite the ways away, and her connection was too weak for her to spread herself throughout the realm. So, she had a better idea.

After probing the minds of the creatures living there, she found just what she was looking for. A type of thing that was brilliant of mind and strong of body, carrying all manner of machines to and fro. Worming her way into the mind of just one of these creatures, she had it work on a gateway that would allow the things of this realm to come to her. For forty days and forty nights it built the gateway, until it perished not even a quarter of the way through construction. So she had another work on the gateway in its stead, and then another, and another, and another, until it was finally complete.

But when she tried to bring her new worshipers to her domain, they resisted. Not only that, they began killing those she tried to bring through the gateway, eventually sealing it underground and building a monument atop it. To rub salt in the wound, they began worshiping another in said monument, one meant to send her to the eternal sleep. Enraged by their foolishness, she withdrew from the realm, deciding to tend to her current flock of wayward worshipers, who had wandered off while she was busy.

After herding her worshipers back to her, she had them build a monument around her, so they may worship a BETTER savior in a MUCH better church! She was NOT jealous of this “Quake” they kept rambling on and on about, shut up!

Mere years after her own church was complete, something new found its way into her realm. Was this the “Quake” meant to fell her? No, it was another being from the realm of hypocrites, one she had passed over in favor of the larger artificers. Probing its mind, she learned its origins. This one was part of another religious order, one that had struck down the artificers and sent them running for the hills, before uncovering the gateway that they had left behind. Perhaps she could use this to her advantage...

“Be not afraid, my child, for your quest has come to an end.” she told the paladin. “You stand before your god, who is proud of your devotion.”

It was a gamble, but the paladin believed her. Bowing, it asked her how it could serve her better, and so she had but one request.

“Bring all who believe to my domain.” she replied. “Bring thy compatriots. Thy friends. Thy family. That is thine new quest.”

The paladin left her domain by way of the gateway, and returned mere minutes later with another member of the order. She gave it the same quest, and so they left and returned, bringing with them more worshipers to turn to her side. Eventually, they even managed to locate the artificers that had betrayed her, and she welcomed them back with open arms. Her flock was growing. She was finally getting what she desired after such a long time, and so, she was happy.

For a time, that is.

It took just shy of a hundred millennia for the itch to return, but when she went looking for a new realm to welcome, she found one almost immediately. One that had built a new kind of gateway all on their own, and was exploring the husk of the realm she had welcomed. Overjoyed, she sent her flock into the realm of their ancestors, and brought the travelers to her.

Soon, her flock will grow once more.

Soon, she will be happy.

...won't she?

You could build a Soul Cairn, and then use soul gems to summon subjects from the Soul Cairn that you could fully customize, including their traits.

But in order to prevent people from having overpowered subjects with a half-dozen traits, you'll have to spend antronite or bonus soul gems to increase the number of traits.
