I am leaving for athens May 21st and heading to Kea on May 25th for one week! I’m going with a group of ten college aged people and am looking for resturants, bar, activities, and more recommendations!
Below is the itinerary we have for athens, but it is up in the air on the specific times and places. We are in need of recommendations for Kea on anything to do, anything helps!
8:30–10:30 AM | Acropolis & Parthenon
◦ Begin the day early to avoid crowds and heat. Explore the Acropolis of Athens, including the Parthenon, and visit the Odeon of Herodes Atticus within the Acropolis complex.
10:45 AM–12:00 PM | Acropolis Museum
◦ Walk downhill to the Acropolis Museum. Explore the exhibits and the Parthenon Gallery while enjoying a break from the heat in an air conditioned space.
12:15–2:15 PM | Lunch & Exploring Near Plaka
◦ Enjoy a longer relaxed lunch at a traditional taverna near Plaka.
◦ After lunch, spend time casually exploring nearby streets, shops, cafés, and photo spots before heading to the cooking class.
3:00–7:00 PM | Greek Cooking Class with Wine Tasting
◦ Participate in a hands on Greek cooking class designed for a group of ten. Learn traditional recipes, enjoy local wine pairings, and sit down together for the meal you prepare.
7:15–8:30 PM | Evening Walk Through Plaka & Anafiotika
◦ Take a relaxed evening stroll through Plaka for shopping, photos, and nightlife atmosphere.
◦ Continue up to Anafiotika for sunset and nighttime views featuring whitewashed houses and island style architecture.
Optional Evening Stop | Little Kook
◦ Stop for dessert, drinks, and photos at this famous themed café known for its playful decorations and immersive atmosphere.
May 24th (Athens)- Sunday
Markets, Monuments, and Modern Athens
8:30–9:30 AM | Varvakios Market
Visit Varvakios Market early to experience local food culture. Coffee and light snacks available.
10:00–10:30 AM | Hadrian’s Library
Short visit to the ancient ruins located in the city center.
10:45–11:30 AM | Olympieion (Temple of Olympian Zeus)
Explore the Temple of Zeus and surrounding area. Photo friendly and easy to navigate.
11:45 AM–12:30 PM | Changing of the Guard
Watch the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square. Ceremony occurs on the hour.
12:30–1:30 PM | Lunch Near Syntagma Square
Lunch at a nearby café or restaurant. Time to rest and regroup.
1:45–2:30 PM | National Garden of Athens
Relaxing walk through the National Garden. Shaded paths and a calm environment.
2:45–3:30 PM | Panathenaic Stadium
Visit the historic all marble stadium used in the first modern Olympic Games.
4:00–5:30 PM | Ergon House
End the day at Ergon House. Enjoy food, drinks, and Greek specialty products in a modern food hall setting.
