A surprise in the wildflowers

I planted some native wildflowers yesterday I got at my local Spring Fling and to my surprise this columbine had opened. I had planted a wildflower perennial mix, not marketed as natives, and the columbine have mostly been the frilly single color ones. This is the only 2 tone I've had come up. It's already fallen, pic was taken yesterday.

What's happening in your garden today?

Still waiting for the soil to warm up to plant the tomatoes and peppers. Going to plant some of the native pollinators I picked up at Spring Fling in the wildflower garden. Thought I'd share some pictures of what's blooming. Enjoy your Tuesday everyone.

In the greenhouse, waiting for the warmth

1st time growing peppers from seed, started February 1st. I saved some sweet pepper seeds and aji lemon drop, and bought seeds for the jalapeños, habaneros, and lemon habaneros.

Is this a problem?

I have other blueberries that don't look like this, but I'm assuming this is a disease. Any recommendations as to what it is and how to treat? The plant is loaded with fruit right now.

Outside the greenhouse this morning

I heard a buzzing against plastic last night and found this big guy on the ground infront of the door. It doesn't seem able to fly, just flapping on the ground. I got it to grab a stick and put it on a plant.

We had an addition put onto the house a little over 2 years ago and I put in a wildflower bed with one of those small premixed bags of seed and fertilizer. It's turned out great, weed management is a little difficult due to the density of the flowers. If you dig out a weed, usually a flower or 2 gets disturbed leading to some bare spots. There is less weeds this year compared to last, but when I 1st sowed it I let everything grow wild. Some other spring pictures included.

What's going on in your garden today? It's been a cool spring and my peppers and tomatoes are ready to get in the ground, but it's still not quite time. Mother's Day is usually the safe planting time for summer crops. I might try to plant a 3rd round of sweet peas and a 2nd round of radishes and pak choy. Maybe even put a few cucumber seeds in early to see if I get lucky with frost holding off. Have you put any of your plants in the ground yet?

Spring Fling has some good give aways, only until noon today. Also plants for sale as well as other vendors. Someone had tomato plants for $2, only 2 kinds of heirlooms. Come support your local conservation groups that are looking out for the county.

It's been so nice not having to move plants in and out. They seem happy even though we had temps in the low 40s. Picked up a bunch of totes on sale, figured i can fill some with water to retain the heat of the day at night.

I started too many pepper plants and have some extra garden seeds as well. I was wondering if there are other people that might have the same issue and would be interested in a plant and seed exchange. I have some sweet pepper and aji lemon drop seeds that I saved and grew, so they may have crossed pollinated, and jalapeños, habaneros, and lemon habaneros I grew from seeds I bought; all in 1qt pots. I also bought a 1lb bag of sweet peas and saved some pole beans and giant butternut squash seeds from last year.

If anyone else has extra plants and seeds, let's plan a swap. Maybe a park meet up or something.

If you started garden seedlings, this week looks really good to harden them off. I always hate having to move trays of plants in and out this time of year to get them use to the sun, wind, and temperature changes. Mild temperatures and overcast skies makes it nice enough to just leave them outside all day and night. You may want to give them some protection from the rains and strong winds, but we may be past the frosts.
