Cheap Trick got me out of detention...

In high school (like 2003-ish) I got detention for skipping class (or being chronically late to class, i forget). The person who ran detention was this big, no-nonsense dude who, rumor had it, was a former drug dealer turned school security employee. He was also really into all kinds of music, mostly rap and hip hop, but also classic rock.

He'd play music in the classroom while you sat in detention, and about 5 minutes into detention a song plays on the radio, and he's getting really into the drumming. He calls out, "anyone knows who this is?" and nobody answers until I say, "Cheap Trick, I Want You to Want me (Live at Budokan)." He said to me, you're free to go.

Who knew knowing classic rock would get me out of detention early? A big reason I knew that was not because I was into them, but because that song would always play on the classic rock station my dad listened to on his commute home.

Flight of the Navigator (1986)

I always wondered if the producers of the film, when it was picked up for distribution by Disney, had the kids wear Disney t-shirts to promote their parks...

Flight of the Navigator (1986)

Kid is rocking that shirt. I guess if you make a film in Ft. Lauderdale in the 80s you gotta represent Miami Vice in some way
