GPT-5.5 medium is cheaper and stronger than Flash 3.5, according to Artificial Analysis

So:

  1. Google has worse models than OpenAI (OpenAI is now ahead even in image generation, though Nano Banana is still a beast)

  2. Google has WAY worse limits than OpenAI now.

  3. Google's models have WAY worse harness than OpenAI.

So what's the point in Google AI Pro subscription now compared to ChatGPT Plus?

6 month ago I just remember how everyone was saying "Google has already won AI race, it's so over for OpenAI". Well, Google is still the company with the most resources but right now they are so behind in almost everything.

New UI looks better but it's a downgrade UX-wise

Yeah, it's fancy and arguably looks better overall, but:

  1. They removed the pinned Gems panel. Now you have to open the Gems menu first, and only then select your Gem. Why?
  2. They removed the live thinking stream. You can no longer watch the "thinking process" (chain-of-thought) in real-time. It's now hidden under the three-dots menu and only viewable after the response is fully generated.
  3. They completely removed "Redo with Nano Banana Pro". You can no longer use Pro model in the Gemini app at all.

Google will not release a new Pro model at Google I/O (May 19/20)

According to some insiders, Google is only going to release Gemini 3.2 Flash at Google I/O. Apparently, there are no plans for a new Pro version yet.

Weird, considering how far ahead Claude and GPT are right now.
