Good bar for before or after Quetzal?
Hey all! I will be visiting Toronto this summer for a solo birthday trip and am going to treat myself to dinner at Quetzal (not sure if I will do Saturday or Sunday yet, but it may also depend on what is available when I go to book). I am looking for suggestions on a good cocktail or two before or after dinner. Preferably bars that are walkable to/from the restaurant as I will not be staying in that area but will uber to it. Although I’ll be dressed nicely for dinner, I don’t need to go to a fancy cocktail lounge! I love a good dive bar or sports bar too! Basically if I snag a later dinner reservation I’d like to grab a drink or two at one or two bars then go to dinner, or if I snag an earlier reservation maybe go to a bar or two after for a nightcap (assuming the smoke smell isn’t too overpowering).
I also have a quick question about Quetzal if anyone can help. I plan on doing the tasting menu! I know that they accommodate allergies/dislikes and will put something on the tasting menu from the main if I ask, but do they adjust the portions for solo diners or box up whatever you don’t finish? I’m looking forward to the food but I have seen that the pork is basically a full sized portion and I don’t want to fill up on that and not enjoy the other courses!
