Okay, this is kinda serious... (Just why are we doing this gng?)

First of all, I sincerely apologize to both of my peeps if these inconsistencies weren't intentional. Feel free to call me off if that's the case. I'm extremely sorry you both had to go through such difficult phases in your lives.

*sigh* If these were deliberate, why are we lying about these things gng? What difference would an increase of 1% make? Ya'll have got great scores so flaunt them freely. Why feel so insecure about them? Such inconsistencies make you lose credibility. So sorry to say this, but I'm having a hard time believing you guys after this.

The notion that he cannot comes from this panel right here 👆

But Sanemi's completely literate; and here's why:

- He's seen to have written wishes on Tanzaku in the Tanabata official art (Image 2 Credit: Ufotable, Translated by me). The papers' colour and the handwriting on them are distinct from the other Tanzaku so we know for sure that he has written them.

- Compared to Giyu, he seems way more awkward using his left hand while eating (See Image 3). We know Giyu managed to write after losing his right arm, meaning, he learnt to write with his left hand. Sanemi who lost his right index and middle fingers evidently couldn't manage to use his left hand as well as Giyu to even eat (which is a simpler task than writing) and thus definitely not as well to write.

- Also, Taisho Japan had crazy high literacy rates compared to rest of the world. Elementary education which was 6 years long was mandatory. Sanemi comes from the Kyobashi Ward of Tokyo Prefecture. The area had 3 public elementary schools, namely, Joto Elementary School (established in 1875) and Tsukiji Elementary School (established in 1901) and Kyobashi Elementary School (established in 1909). This tells us that education was easily accessible to him. Even though we know that he worked to practically raise his family from a very young age, I don't THINK he would have skimped on education. You can only go so far with manual labour and he knows that. He's canonically very serious about education, given how he pushes Genya for it in the Academy AU (See Image 4).

- I would also like to point out that's he's sensitive on the inside and thus gets embarrassed easily. Not my words but Gyomei's. That MIGHT also be a reason for not writing to Tanjiro and leaving Ohagi and Matcha as gifts secretly (See Image 5). He SAYS he can't write (See Image 1) and that makes it even harder to buy lol.

Headcanon: Drawing and handwriting are known to be linked so looking at the dragon he drew (See Image 6), I believe his handwriting style must also be very cool!

1st Image depicts Sanemi; Before LM1 fight, During LM1 fight and Right after LM1 fight

(Notice how he doesn't gain a single new scar after such an important fight where he explicitly got gravely injured?)

About a month ago, I made this post which was basically a timeline of Sanemi's injuries and scars. After a lot of discussion (and downvotes) later, I can confidently say this:

Gotouge-sensei was never serious enough about his scars. It's all over the place and highly illogical. How am I supposed to believe that he's getting scarred by fodder demons (cuz he has so many scars) when he didn't get scars even after getting hurt in a canon fight?

We also saw him fighting fodder demons in HTA ep 1 AND he didn't get hit a single a time nor did he cut himself (I urge you all to keep in mind that this was an unlikely fight cuz demons are not allowed to associate and work together in herds).

If he can deal with multiple fodder demons at once WITHOUT getting hit and cutting himself, GUESS WHAT, Hashira Sanemi (not child Sanemi or Kinoe Sanemi) should have no trouble dealing with singular fodder demons without his blood hax!

And no, he doesn't cut himself up to use his blood to torture demons. It's been clearly stated that he (pre-Hashira Kinoe Sanemi) used his blood only when he got desperate (see 2nd image) and even then he had a preference for cutting himself rather than being cut (see 3rd image).

Conclusion: Gotouge-sensei never took his scars as seriously as we do. His scars (except his facial ones cuz we know how he got them) are just there for fan appeal. SHEER FAN SERVICE if you will. It's high time that we move on.

  1. Who would he get along with the most? Who he wouldn't get along with?
  2. What would he do in Episode 1 if he encountered the Kamado siblings?
  3. What would he do at the Hashira trial?
  4. What would his Hashira training look like?
  5. >!Which UM is he gonna get matched up with in ICA? !<
  6. Any possible ships for him?
  7. Fun Taisho Rumours? (anything in general, his opinion about other Hashiras, his crow, his backstory, uniqueness of his fighting style, uniform style, how would he treat Maeda aka Mr. Scum Glasses given his strong sense of justice and all his talk about real men)
  8. >!If Masachika was also a Hashira (along with Sanemi, Sabito and Giyu), how would their dynamic be?!<
