There's lots to unpack with Dogville, its underlying themes of human hypocrisy and Christian allegories are fertile ground for an analysis, not to mention its obvious critique of the US as a whole.

The evil it portrays isn't comical or exaggerated, it's very much grounded in real-world instances of similar events to those of the film unfolding throughout history.
