Was looking for a microsoft office alternative on linux and came across libreoffice first. seemed like the obvious choice, but after digging a bit, seeing how some parts depend on collabora and its ecosystem kinda made me unsure about long term sustainability…

Maybe im overthinking it, but it feels a bit too tied instead of fully independent.

then found onlyoffice, and honestly it looks more appealing in that sense. built from scratch (not a fork), free, no ads, good ms file compatibility, and proper cross platform apps + web version. just feels more “complete” overall.

Curious what others think… is the collabora thing actually a concern or not really?

also any other good alternatives on linux worth trying?
