Surgery concerns and anaesthesia sedation

  1. US based here. I asked my urologist, who is a general urologist, how many adult circumcisions he does and he said he does 20-40 a year. Is this a low number or experienced enough.

  2. I asked what style he usually does and he says low + loose and said my frenulum looked a bit tight when flaccid, so he’d do a frenuloplasty too.

  3. I asked if he does the surgery under local anaesthesia or general, and he said he does it under sedation. I’m afraid of going under sedation since I suspect I might have sleep apnea (unconfirmed since I am not diagnosed). I’m afraid of being asleep during the procedure since I’m concerned about brain damage from lack of oxygen. Can i request to do it under local?

In circumcision worth the worse feeling during masturbation?

I have medium phimosis and retract flaccid, but not erect. I’m almost 29 and haven’t had sex yet, because I can’t retract while erect so I’m concerned it hurting. I have heard bad stories about how circumcision kills feeling during masturbation and how afterwards it doesn’t feel as good as the gliding motion of the foreskin. Especially I heard that tight cuts require you to masturbate with lube. But loose cuts allow you to masturbate without lube dry, but it still feels worse than with a foreskin. I don’t want to have to use lube to jerk off.

My urologist told me to try steroid creams and stretch for 4 weeks to see if I can retract erect. If not, do a circumcision.

I talked to my urologist about cut styles, and he looked it up and me he usually does a loose and low cut. I want to preserve the ability to masturbate dry after circumcision. I’m concerned that masturbation will feel much worse after. On the other hand, I want my phimosis issue over with as I’m pretty insecure about being a virgin.

To those circumcised, do you miss your foreskin? How is masturbating after? Was the benefit of having better sex worth the decline in masturbation feeling?

Losing erection trying to retract when erect

Late 20s , USA, male and I have phimosis. I can retract when soft, But when I'm erect, I can only retract a little bit. I can make it 1/4 of the way down the glans and when I try to retract more, I just completely lose my erection. Did anyone else have this issue?

Urologist recommended a circumcision (low loose) but I’m scared of the procedure, recovery, and the risk of having erectile dysfunction afterward.
