RCycle update - free smart training app

I posted a while ago announcing my smart trainer app - I've had some people provide me with some feedback that I've incorporated -- main feature being the ability to see a 'street view' while you're riding, better intelligence connecting to smart trainers, more camera controls and other goodies. I finally got around to making a demo video - this is for the latest version I just released (0.13.2).

I do need more Mac testers - if you have Mac I would love for someone to install it and send screenshots of the steps they took to get it running or let me know if they have any problems. Otherwise, hope you enjoy it.

Hey guys - I've been working on a bit of a passion project for a while. I really want to ride some real routes and see what the ride will fell like on my trainer, but I've not found any of the commercial apps to fit the bill. I personally don't care about my avatar's appearance, nor animated dolphins in the background and I've especially not been happy with the $20/month subscription fees. It's taken some time but I built my ideal trainer app (RCycle) and I've been enjoying going on some rides on it.

  • Ride ANY route (including dirt), anywhere in the world - import directly from Strava* or any GPX file
  • Multi-user - see other riders nearby while you ride
  • Works with most trainers using only BTLE, no ANT dongle needed (Supported Trainers)
  • Adjustable camera angle and zoom plus a smart camera that will rotate to keep the rider in the image in case hills/terrain block the view
  • Computes ride stats at the end of the ride and optionally uploads them back to Strava (ride I just rode using RCycle)

Would love to get some feedback here or DM me. You can download here -  https://rcycle.app

* the Strava interface works great but they limit it to one user until they review the application an authorize more users to use it. As a work-around, you can copy and paste any ride url from strava into the app or upload any GPX route into the system and it will let you ride it (no login required). Once I get app approval, you can see a list of your routes in strava and select one as well as be able to save your ride to strava.

I wasn't a fan of any of the commercial trainer apps so I built my own - it lets you ride any route in the world visualized on a 3D satellite image map. Looking for people who might be interested in helping test it out. Trying to avoid the rule about self-promotions so I'm not going to provide a link - please DM me if you're interested. Runs on windows and Mac. Thanks!

One feature I like with other apps is the multi-user experience, so I added that feature too - you can see riders that are nearby. I felt that it might be had to find others if you could literally be on any route in the world, so you can see the routes others are on and join them if you want some company or competition. Here are some other features:

  • Ride ANY route (including dirt), anywhere in the world - import directly from Strava* or any GPX file
  • Works with most trainers using only BTLE, no ANT dongle needed (Supported Trainers)
  • Adjustable camera angle and zoom plus a smart camera that will rotate to keep the rider in the image in case hills/terrain block the view

I'm people who are interested in testing it out and providing feedback or suggestions (or those that like it and just want to use it). If you're interested, check it out at https://rcycle.app

Feel free to post your feedback here, or DM me
