The road trip I’m on passed nearby, and I already planned to go down to the desert so had the outfit with me, so I figured… Must do.

This is at a grocery store in Eureka. There is not actually a payphone outside the place like the movie, it’s a water dispenser, thus why I’m leaning on a newspaper box.

It is incredible how this park is right smack up against “normal” California. There are massive redwood trees immediately on the park border, which you cross and it feels like five seconds later you’re driving on the 101.

Last night, after shooting this video, we descended and a small herd of elk were hanging out in the middle of the road, no concern in the world. Highway maybe 1000 feet ahead. Just so crazy.

And I’m pretty sure there were whales surfacing way out in the distance, but maybe I was just imagining that.

Great hike of about three miles in a curated arboretum. About two miles to get here the way I went, but as you can hear, it’s near a road in this specific spot, so really only like a quarter mile from an access point or less. A more interior area on the (Coastal) Redwood Trail felt extremely isolated and never would’ve known I was in a major city. Very nice trail system.

I’m visiting your city over the weekend, and admittedly, I don’t know very much about Portland and Oregon except that everyone will love learning that I grew up pronouncing the state’s name as ore-uh-gone. (Don’t worry, I’ll tell everyone I meet!)

But I love movies. and seeing places IRL that were portrayed on film, so I’m just curious: what would you consider an iconic spot captured in a movie in Portland or along the Columbia River Gorge?

Hoping this could introduce me to new movies and find out where things filmed that I’ve already seen but didn’t realize.

I’m googling of course, but I’d love redditors’ perspective as well.

I’m focused on movies specifically… I know Portlandia, for example, filmed in quite a few places, but it’s not my jam.
