Timex 1983 E-Line; the jury is still out

Timex 1983 E-Line; the jury is still out

I had pre-ordered this same watch in green and gold off the Timex site. 1983 is my birth year, and my folks definitely owned watches that looked like it.

But the size of it had me concerned, so when I saw this version was on sale on Amazon, I decided to order it just to try out.

My first instinct upon opening the box was that it's laughably small, and looks like a toy. Once I set it and put it on, that melted away, and I'm kinda digging the vibe of it. It's still smaller than I ever imagined going, but I find square watches wear a bit bigger.

I just canceled the pre-order for the green and gold, because I wouldn't pay $300+ for this watch, but for the sale price I might keep this version. Still trying to decide.

My first Seiko

I've been collecting watches seriously again for a bit over a year now, and this is my first Seiko (aside from one I found in a jewelry box that belonged to my folks that I'm considering getting serviced)

I've been eyeing an Alpanist for a while, but couldn't justify it atm. This little beaut scratches the itch, at least aesthetically. I'm a sucker for a green dial and this one is gorgeous. I already changed out the strap to to this similar, but much better looking/ feeling one

Morphed the black and gold duro with a crappy AliExpress bracelet I got off eBay. I call it..

The Dragonzord. This was the most extensive mod I've done yet, I opened it up and changed the crystal to a sapphire w/ a Cyclops and changed the crown/stem to match the gold bezel. I realized that the chapter ring was a tad off until I had reinstalled the crown. I can live with it, because I do not want to tempt fare and crack this open again! Crystal is also a hair off, but on my wrist it looks right, and that's really what's important in the end. on the islander bracelet, this thing looks nearly exactly how I pictured it. All in all, I give myself a 7/10. There are some slight flaws but I can live with it.

Nice little PRX Homage. I'd say the movement is smoother than the Casio I own in this style. The bracelet is fairly comfortable, though the finishing leaves a bit to be desired. That being said, you can't really complain for $150!
