Not even sure this is a fungus

Pennsylvania. Been on this trail many times in all seasons and I have never seen these before. Adhered to rotting wood with no stipe. Pearlescent. Touched with a twig and it is semi soft and I could scrape some of the surface off and there is soft brown material inside.
