Bought GBA From a Coworker

Posted about getting my old GBC and carts up and running recently:

Just bought this from a coworker for $60. When this came out, I was already too cool for school on handhelds. Conkers BFD, Perfect Dark, then Halo and Xbox took over my gaming life for a while. I hate platformers usually, shoot-em-ups, run-n-guns, etc. So Sonic, Mario, Metroid are all pretty much no-gos.

Gonna pick up a GB operator and some carts soon and go from there. Probably buy a copy of Advance Wars and Golden Sun to get started. But hey! I can trade between my Pokemon games now without getting someone else and that's really cool.

Again, with modding, I don't know if I want to do anything. I want to play it a while with the original screen before I think about one of those IPS ones.

Tis the Season

Got the Vintage Look loaded up with the butane insert for 420. My first butane insert finally died last week after a year of heavy use.

Old GBC

Found my old GBC a while back. Only recently did I get the batteries changed in the carts. Everything works fine. There's some dust and dirt on the inside but only around any ports or controls. The PCB is pretty clean. I cleaned it some but I'm waiting for some 99% iso for the rest. These things were built to last; mine bounced around in a backpack all day and got dropped a ton on the school bus. The only mod I'd do isn't really a mod, but I'd replace the lens if anything. Playing through Silver and Blue now, got about 100 hrs in Crystal. Not pictured are my Silver and Crystal manuals. Blue wasn't mine originally as I found it super cheap last year.

A bit of advice to ppl thinking of soldering anything: watch videos on YouTube first. That saved me a lot of time and problems.
