I’ve always been fascinated with coonhounds since I was a kid. Growing up Where the Red Fern Grows was my favourite book/movie.

Recently found a redbone breeder near me and was wondering what it’s like to own one. I currently own a lab and would be taking the puppy to training once old enough.

The dog would mainly be a family pet, but would be interested in trying to get into scent work and tracking.

Also, I know hounds noses tend to get their noses into trouble. I like taking my lab off leash when possible I use an e-collar to help with his recall. Wondering if anyone here is able to do that with their hound with the proper training.
