Remielle, Elysia, Cyrene - Spoilers for HSR, HI3 and ZZZ 2.8.
I see a lot of comments about Remielle being our Cyrene coming mostly from people who played or know about HSR and comparing her to Cyrene. It kinda rubs me the wrong way and I have to talk about it:
While yes, Cyrene is an Elysia xp - in my opinion, Cyrene was only half the character Elysia was in HI3. Elysia was much more shrewd an cunning in the story of HI3, her flirty and bubbly character was used to make people around her let their guard down while she exactly knew how to get what she wanted from them. You could almost describe her as selfish at points (or more like assertive and with agency getting what she wants) - I mean, she is the Herrscher of Human Ego.
Cyrene had almost none of this and was mostly shown as extremely kind and altruistic while being a tool for the Rememberance. And since HSR is more popular than HI3 most people think this is what Elysia is like - when most of the story in HI3 we get more of the flirty, bubbly, cunning and shrewd character and not the "I will sacrifice everything for humanity" - altruistic character. In fact, it actually hits harder that she does sacrifice herself and we discover that behind her bubbly and flirty personality she always planned for this, it made it much more tragic and impactful.
What I want to say, I think Cyrene did damage to Elysia as a character. Remielle seems much more like the Elysia I knew - at least for now - and I really hope, if she is supposed to be an Elysia xp, they do her justice this time. But since it's been sometime I played HI3 and really didn't like HSR 3.x I may misremember some things - I could be wrong in my characterization of Cyrene and Elysia if someone cares to say why they disagree because they actually paid attention and remember HI3 better, I'd be interesting in reading.
