Moving preparation

Wondering exactly how much I can do to prepare and organize prior to my move date so I’m set up for success when I arrive at my new destination, if they are packing up for me.

I’ve moved many times and always am meticulous about my labeling, with both what’s inside, and what room it should go to. So I’m mostly wondering about labels.. I know they are packing it up, but can I have things ready to go in piles, and put the labels on myself??

I would like to unpack it all myself ideally, but I’m curious with this option if they still assemble the furniture or no? If you chose to unpack yourself, do they still bring it all inside for you or do you also unload?

Finally, I’m curious about what all I should NOT send with the movers ( outside of the obvious things like important jewelry and documents.) I already have a pickup date which is only a few weeks after my load date, and it says it will arrive on or before that date, but should I assume the worst that it will be dropped off later than expected and I’ll be stuck without my stuff? My husband will be at OTS for my entire move, so I’m not sure if I should pack him a suitcase full of clothes just incase.

Sorry if these questions seem stupid! Doing this all by myself plus two cats and an infant so I just want it to run as smoothly as possible!

How many washes?

How many washes does it take for vivid colors to stop bleeding? I’m new to dyeing clothing and went in hot with a bright cherry red on some white denim pants. I rinsed the pants until they were practically running clear, then when I put them in the wash, I realized there was still a lot of dye left in them because I could see it in the machine. After a full cycle, they seemed to be running clear in the wash, so I put them out to dry, but noticed it stained the area red that I let them dry on top of. So I’m curious if there’s a better method for getting excess dye out quicker/ more efficiently? I just don’t want to risk staining my other clothing.

Hi everyone! We are brand new to the military and moving to Langley as our fist base in July! My husband will be at ocs in AL, however during that time I want to move to our new place in VA. I have a pretty specific flight I want to take, because my siblings are planning to fly with me to help with my 2 cats and baby, and they want to purchase flights now so they can get them at a more affordable price.

How does it work with buying my flight? Will they choose it for me completely, or do I just file for reimbursement for the flight I choose/purchase?
