How are you supposed to get into Sysco if they keep denying you?

I’ve applied to Sysco in Jersey City a few times for the order selector position and keep getting denied.

I’ve got about 4 years of warehouse experience including picking, pallet building, RF scanners, pallet jacks, loading trucks, fast paced environments, and order selection rate based work from places like Odeko and Amazon. I’m used to long shifts and heavy work so it’s not like I’m new to this.

What I don’t get is the 5 year requirement. How are people supposed to get in if they won’t even give you a shot when you’re already doing the same type of work?

For anyone that actually works there or got hired what are they really looking for? Is it just experience on paper or is there something specific that helps you get in?

Need help improving basic arithmetic (ASVAB prep)

Hey everyone,

I recently took the ASVAB and scored a 22. English isn’t my first language, and I struggle a bit with reading comprehension and basic math. I’m planning to go 09M to improve myself and build better study habits because I know I need to work on those skills.

I’ve been trying to study on my own, but it’s been tough for me to stay consistent and actually understand some of the questions.

I came across this example ASVAB-style question on TikTok:

“A gym has 500 members. 10% actually go. Of those who go, 50% only go to take mirror selfies and occupy machines without using them. How many people are actually working out?”

I tried solving it like this: I did 10% of 500 = 50, but then I got stuck after that and wasn’t sure how to continue.

So I had a couple questions for people who are familiar with the ASVAB or have taken it:

What helped you improve your basic math/arithmetic skills?Any tips for understanding word problems like this?

Is there a better way to break these down step by step?

Any advice would really help. I’m trying to improve and do better next time.
