How do I preserve this?

For some info, my grandpa caught this 9 pound striped bass in 1990, in Norfork Lake Arkansas , and mounted it. Ever since then it was sitting in my grandma‘s living room without her doing anything to it just barely barely barely touched it with a dusting cloth. Then my grandma decided that she didn’t want it anymore so she gave it to my uncle. He didn’t put it up or anything, and didn’t take care of it. It’s sat in his garage (Iowa weather) so it went through humid, hot cold dry. I finally picked it up and it’s been sitting in my closet for about two years. I just now got it on the wall and I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas how to preserve it/keep it as it is. I would really love to keep it in my family.
