Mold Under Mattress

I've got a home-made teardrop with an interior space of 47" X 75" - I cut a foam full size mattress down to utilize the full amount of space. I have a small electric space heater; this past winter I used it quite a bit.

I pulled up the mattress yesterday for a spring cleaning and noticed a whole lot of mold under it, growing on the plywood bottom. I assume this is because of both respiration as well as body heat from the mattress against the cold plywood causing condensation. What I want to know is how to prevent it in the future. My base is two sheets of plywood sandwiching 1/2" foam insulation. I probably should have put the mattress up on some sort of slats, but I didn't bother - as the mattress is squished against the walls of the trailer as well, I assumed it wouldn't add any meaningful airflow.

So, I look to this group for ideas. When the mattress is the entire floor of your trailer, what did you do to promote enough airflow that mold doesn't show up?
