I just wanted to share my experience with this upgrade. I was experiencing frequent Internet drops with the XE75 after several years of trouble free use, and my ISP convinced me that it was my router and not on their end after running several diagnostics and sending out a tech.
I decided to go with BE63 after having switched to a one gig connection, and with approximately 50 devices connecting through a large two story house.
First of all, the utility in the phone app for swapping in a new system didn’t work. I had to create the network from scratch after the replacement process failed several times. First off, don’t forget to disconnect any router from your cable modem, and reboot the modem. If you don’t do this it will keep looking for the original router.
Setting up the main node took several attempts, as the app would not find it a couple of times. I had to reset it and try again. Now I know why they include a reset tool in the box. After getting the main node set up with the same ID and password, my devices started reconnecting. Enabling the additional to satellite nodes was equally painful, requiring multiple resets. Once I got those recognized and connected I realized that all of my devices were still connecting through the main note and not the satellites, but after about 10 minutes everything settled and they connected to the strongest signal.
So while the set up process required persistence, it wasn’t entirely difficult. We will see if this solves the Internet dropping problems, and if it doesn’t I’m going to have a much stronger word with my ISP. The good news is is my speed appears to be a bit higher since the headroom on this mesh unit is higher than the old one.
I'm running 1GB service and as part of the discounted package they also gave me a SAX2V1R router that is sitting in a box. I'm running a TP Link Deco 6E three node mesh system in a two story 2500 square foot house, and the vast majority of the time it absolutely screams. On occasion, however, the internet drops but the modem and router show everything is in order. Sometimes it comes back in a few minutes, but sometimes I have to start rebooting things. When it comes back on my speed is under 100mbps for at least a few minutes, often longer.
Tonight it dropped and was persistently slow after it reconnected. I got Spectrum on the line and they told me everything looks fine. The CSR said they did a speed test from the modem to their node and it was fast. She said the problem had to be with my router (she seemed confused why she couldn't see their router... duh). She might be right. I plugged my laptop directly into the modem, rebooted the modem, and got speed over 600mb. When I plugged my router back into the modem the speed was super fast again, so I'm not sure what fixed it... rebooting the modem, rebooting the router, or just time.
My question is this. Does their SAX2V1R have decent enough coverage (it says for large homes) to stand up to gamers abusing the connection upstairs on the other side of the house, or should I already be thinking about a new mesh system? I guess I could try it, but it the thing is hot garbage I'd like to save myself the effort of configuring it. Based on my search I think I know the answer, but forums like this attract more complaints than attaboys.
