So how long am I gonna wait to get off the top of this parking garage?
I’ve been stuck in place for a half hour already 😭
Planning a trip to Joshua tree later this month and I really want to shoot the dark night sky.
My plan:
Get some 800 speed color film, probably Cinestill 800t since it’s made to be pushed (plus the red halation will probably look sweet), or portra 800. Meter for 3200 and push the film 2 stops in development.
I’ll be shooting with my Pentax k1000 with a 1:1.4 50mm lens. According to the rule of 500, I should have at most 10 seconds for an exposure. Will 1.4 be enough light for this? Too much? I’m gonna pla around w aperture of course but I have no idea how bright the sky will truly be, I live somewhere with heavy light pollution (around 5.5-6 on the Bortle scale, whereas Joshua tree is closer to a 4) and frequent clouds. Anyone with experience with darker skies have some advice, tips, recommended shutter/aperture rates, good spots in Joshua Tree, etc?
