I recently came across the new e-OCI (digital OCI card) system introduced by the Government of India and wanted to understand how practical it is in real use.

From what I have learned:

  • e-OCI is a digital version of the OCI card, accessible on mobile
  • New applicants may get it first, while existing OCI holders will receive it gradually during updates/reissue
  • The physical OCI booklet is still valid for now
  • Processing seems faster (around 15 days) with less paperwork
  • Future updates may include facial recognition entry at Indian airports by 2026
  • Entire process is becoming fully digital, including biometrics

Also, for now, it is still recommended to carry the physical OCI booklet while traveling since airlines may not fully accept e-OCI yet.

Trying to understand from people who have experience:

  • Has anyone received or used e-OCI yet?
  • Is it accepted at immigration without issues?
  • Any practical benefits or challenges so far?

Feel free to share your experience or ask any doubts in comment section

India has introduced new updates to OCI rules, and the process is now fully digital.

Key changes:

  • OCI application & renunciation is now 100% online
  • Introduction of e-OCI (digital OCI instead of a physical card)
  • No dual passport allowed for minors (must choose one nationality)
  • Applicants now have the right to appeal if their application is rejected

The goal seems to be faster processing and better security, but it also adds stricter compliance.

What are your thoughts on these changes? Do you see this as a positive move or more complications for OCI applicants?

Hey everyone,
I came across an update about NRI ITR filing for AY 2026–27 and wanted to confirm:

  • NRIs can’t file ITR-1 (Sahaj)
  • ITR-2 deadline: 31 July 2026
  • ITR-3 & ITR-4: extended to 31 August 2026
  • Audit cases: 31 October 2026
  • Belated return: 31 December 2026
  • Revised return: 31 March 2027

Also saw that late filing may lead to penalties and loss of carry-forward benefits.

Can someone confirm whether these deadlines/extensions have been officially announced?
And which ITR form are most NRIs here using (ITR-2 vs ITR-3)?

Thanks in advance!
