Engine Shutoff issue

hello, long time lurker here, haven't found any posts applicable to my problem so I'm posting for the first time. maybe someone can direct me to a post I haven't seen or maybe know of another VW space that has a similar story.

I've got a 2015 GTI S, and it has been randomly cutting the engine when I brake and slow down at stop signs/lights. I have been unsuccessful in the past 2 years to figure out the conditions for it to happen. after it happens I just turn the car off, wait a few seconds and then it turns back on like nothing happened. I have been in multiple car shops and because I don't know how to replicate it I cannot show my mechanic (currently going to a specialty VW/audi shop). Sometimes this produces codes and sometimes it doesn't. I have gotten codes for camshaft/crankshaft sensors before and those have been replaced. nothing changed. I have had the brake system checked and there doesn't seem to be any obvious issue on that end. the only modification I've done is to add an aftermarket intake pipe and AEM filter. (mostly just for looks) I've kept up with maintenance and oil changes through the years since I got it in 2017. I'm over 146k miles so it may just be age but I feel like there's got to be a reason. any advice or help pointing me in the right direction would help. thanks.
