Hi all! My name is Mandy. I feel a bit awkward talking about myself, but here we go!
I just turned 29. I haven't dated anyone in a long time, but I'm going to try throwing my hat back in the ring, if you will. I have a lot of love, both romantic and platonic, to give but have let my dread of the sexual side of allo dating keep me from searching for the kind of connection that feels comfortable for me. I found this subreddit and decided to see how posting here goes!
I live in Oregon and would love to meet other ace folks of any gender and around my age in the state, especially in the Portland area, though I'm open to online dating/long-distance relationship. I'm looking for monogamy when it comes to romantic partnership.
I'm a big nerd for Star Wars and geology. I just started teaching the latter. It's been a great experience. I feel so blessed to be able to give back to the geoscience community.
My hobbies are creative writing, cross stitch, thrifting for clothes, and playing cozy video games—normally Stardew Valley or Pokémon (but I'm not competitive haha). I have a long list of books that I want to read, but I don't actually get around to doing it as much as I'd like. When I do, though, I reach for anything that can teach me something new—from nonfiction to philosophy to scientific papers.
I love to eat and cook good vegetarian food. Thai or Indian cuisine are my favorites.
My ace experience is a little confusing even to me because I've spent so many years trying to suppress it. If it becomes important to explain later on, I'll do my best to do so! I will say now though that I'm not interested in physical sexual intimacy.
